Alison Eastland

Alison Eastland Online courses, individual sessions worldwide via Zoom, and in-person teaching in the Huon Valley. My way of practising and teaching is gentle and easy-paced.

I am deeply inspired by the nature and landscape of the Melurkedee land of the Palawa people that I live and work on (the Huon Valley, lutruwita/Tasmania). My practice over the years has been an oasis for me, and is a calm centre in the midst of change and challenge. I spent my younger years chronically ill, stressed, and in pain, so every day I appreciate the mental and physical ease and strength

that my practice has given me. I am so grateful that I can share this practice, thanks to the wisdom, knowledge and generosity of the lineage of teachers who have shared their knowledge and inspired me. After all, most of us have already had enough practice at pushing ourselves and rushing around, and we don’t need any more of that. Despite what you see in popular media, finding calm, ease and courage doesn’t need to involve fancy Yoga poses. Yoga & mindfulness can be a practical, useful, and very nurturing part of your every day life. My moving meditations are within a normal range of movement. The power of the practice comes from mindfulness of the breath and in cultivating kind, non-judgemental attention. I offer courses and private sessions for my local community, as well as online worldwide. I also grow food for my local community on my small farm, where I live with my husband Tom and Bonnie the Dog. I’ve been a Yoga & meditation teacher and a food grower for more than 16 years, and I’ve been a nature lover my whole life. I’m deeply interested in how the practice of Yoga and our belonging with nature can support, comfort, nourish and inspire us in these challenging times. Living and working on Melurkedee country, I respectfully acknowledge the palawa/pakana people as the Traditional Custodians of lutruwita (Tasmania) . I pay my respects to elders past, present and emerging and acknowledge that sovereignty has never been ceded. My new offering, Calm & Courage is now available at https://alison-eastland.thinkific.com

I’ve had a couple of last-minute spaces open up for this Saturday’s “Growing Light” afternoon retreat in my peaceful warm yoga cabin: an afternoon of gentle yoga, meditation & relaxation to lift your spirits, nourish your nervous system and prepare mind & body for spring. And a delicious afternoon tea!
Themed along the cycles of the year to cultivate well-being for each season, my afternoon retreats are relaxed, friendly and slow-paced and beginners are always welcome.
Limited to 8 places.
Elvis the Yoga Therapy Dog will be in attendance!
PM me if you’re interested, and I can organise for you to purchase your place from someone who regretfully can no longer attend (if you need a bit longer to pay the $135, that’s ok, I can organise that for you too).
This Saturday the 8th, 1 to 4:30pm.

It was another very un-wintry winter afternoon retreat on Saturday as the sun streamed through the double glazed windows of the warm yoga cabin.
Then the rain & cold set in on Sunday, so hopefully everyone was still feeling the warm glow of our gentle yoga, meditation and guided deep rest practices.
And the lovely afternoon tea by Julia Matusik .
Only one spot left for our next one on the 8th of August! That one will be an afternoon of gentle yoga, meditation & relaxation to lift your spirits, nourish your nervous system and prepare mind & body for spring. All details and bookings at https://alisoneastland.com/afternoon-retreats

I have a few spaces available in my classes for term 3 yoga! Monday nights in Huonville and Wednesday nights in Geeveston (Thursdays in Geeveston is now booked out).

As usual, I’ll be focusing on helping you to soothe your nervous system and giving you tools you can use for your mental health.

If you’ve been to my classes and afternoon retreats, you’ll know that I’m not about teaching fancy poses, or focus on flexibility.

I use a blend of traditional and evidence-based mindfulness, breathing practices and gentle sequencing within a normal range of movement.

My teaching style is respectful, kind, and trauma-informed.

Some parts of the practice stay the same each week, so you can easily learn practices to ease stress at home or work. And each week we also vary the sequences according to the lunar cycle & season to keep things interesting and fun, match our energy levels and feel more in tune with life.

You can try a class for free on video if you want to see what the practice is like - just message me and I’ll send you a link.

If fuel costs prevent you from getting to class, I have Zoom access on Wednesday nights.

I know every dollar counts at the moment, so if you’d like to enrol but you’d have to miss some weeks, I offer complimentary access to my online library of on-demand classes so you can enjoy some extra practices at home during the term.

Thank you!
