Midwifery group practice will be commencing in 2022 through Geraldton Regional hospital. Come along to an information evening to find out how you can self enrol, what mgp is and much more.

Midwifery Group Practice (MGP) allows women and families having a baby to be cared for by a known midwife throughout their pregnancy, during labour and birth, and postnatally. A midwife or small team of midwives will provide your primary care along with a medical practitioner.

A mothers love is like no other love.
I’ve watched this young woman transform over the last 7 weeks into an incredible selfless person. Doing everything within her power to do the best for her little girl. I’m so proud of you Bella. Motherhood is not for the light hearted. It’s a tough gig. A mother’s love is like no other.

Unfortunately I have seen this scenario too many times. One of the main reasons I have stepped away from mainstream maternity care. Whilst an Induction of labour can be life saving for some mothers and babies, there is a huge rise in inductions for non-medical reasons or things such as “big babies” and time after time the baby is average size or “high bloods pressure” based off a single reading or “static fundal height” with no further investigations.

“The study looked at 474,652 births and discounted nearly a million births to make sure only low-risk mothers under 35 were counted.”

"We found in induced births there was more neonatal birth trauma, more need for resuscitation, more need to care for neonatal intensive care and ongoing respiratory infections all up till age 16,"

"From our study we found If you have an induction with no medical reason as a first-time mother, you're more likely to have a baby that's distressed and your chance of having a caesarean is more than double and birth by vacuum is increased,"

"Every mum says you feel a joy when you first hold your baby, but I felt nothing because I was so distressed from what was happening to my body,"
