BLOATED AFTER EVERY MEAL?🧠🍔
That uncomfortable, tight, swollen feeling is common, but constantly putting up with bloating is not something you have to accept as normal.
In Chinese Medicine, bloating and digestive discomfort are often viewed through the lens of how effectively the body is digesting, transforming and transporting food and fluids.
Here are some simple ways to support digestion and reduce discomfort:
Warm fluids
Try sipping warm water or ginger tea, particularly around meals.
Choose more cooked foods
Soups, stews, steamed vegetables and cooked grains can be gentler on digestion than constantly eating cold or raw foods.
Move after meals
A gentle 10 to 15 minute walk can support digestion and help relieve that heavy, stagnant feeling.
Support your gut microbiome
Aim for a wide variety of plant foods, including vegetables, fruits, legumes, whole grains, nuts and seeds. Increase fibre gradually rather than making a huge change overnight.
Slow down
Eating quickly, eating while stressed and not properly chewing your food can all contribute to digestive discomfort. Give your body a chance to actually digest.
From a Chinese Medicine perspective, there is no single treatment for “bloating”. Your symptoms, digestion, diet and overall pattern are considered together to determine how best to support you.
If bloating is persistent, painful, new or associated with other changes in your digestion, it is worth investigating the underlying cause with your GP and we can work together to rehabilitate your gut.
Save this for the next time your stomach is feeling less than happy.
