Why Being Independent Still Matters
20 years ago, Karen Laing started our funeral home with a simple hope - to create a place where families would always be met with kindness, compassion and genuine care at one of the most difficult times in their lives.
Over the years, the funeral industry has changed. Many funeral homes have become part of large corporate organisations, but Karen always believed there would be families looking for something more personal.
A place where they wouldn't feel like just another arrangement.
A place where they would be listened to.
A place where every life would be honoured with the time, care and respect it deserves.
That belief is still at the heart of everything we do today.
When you call us, you won't find yourself speaking to a call centre or being passed from one person to another. You'll be welcomed by one of our own caring team here in Gladesville - someone who will take the time to listen, answer your questions, and simply be there for you. Sometimes that's exactly what people need most.
We know arranging a funeral isn't something anyone plans for. It's often one of the hardest conversations a family will ever have. That's why we believe compassion isn't just part of our work - it's the reason we do it.
Being independent means we can care for every family in the way Karen always intended: personally, without rushing, and with genuine understanding.
To the many families who have invited us into their lives over the past two decades, thank you. Thank you for trusting us with your loved ones, your stories, your tears and your memories. It is a privilege we never take for granted, and one we will continue to honour every single day.
Because to us, this has never just been about funerals.
It's always been about people. ❤️
