Kim van O - Health & Nutrition Coaching

Kim van O - Health & Nutrition Coaching Helping you to unlock the happy, healthy version of yourself with simple lifestyle changes and individualised programs to meet your specific needs. Easy done.

Because... everyone's needs are different and set diets and exercise programs don't work. Hi, I'm Kim
I’m so happy you’re here! In case we’ve never met before, let me tell you a little bit about me…

INTEGRATIVE NUTRITION HEALTH COACH
I’m a certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach. Since 2016 I’ve been teaching busy women to set-up a healthy lifestyle that sticks, by reorganising their life an

d kitchen. HEALTH & WELLNESS JOURNEY
Before I became a Heath and Nutrition Coach, I worked in the corporate world as a legal consultant for over 10 years. I was so busy all the time, a healthy lifestyle wasn’t on the agenda. I didn’t listen to the signals my body was giving and it sure was telling me to slow down. But I was just too busy to be healthy. Not listening to my body resulted in a massive health scare after the routine cervical cancer screening, but also hashimoto’s thyroditis and a severe depression. I had completely lost all control over my life. Medication was suggested by the medical professionals, but my body had enough and I didn’t want to add this to the load. I managed to get all things under control without medication. Even the asthma I had throughout my whole life disappeared. By living a healthy lifestyle. Lots of trial and error. Which reflects in my coaching, because I know what works and what doesn’t. DUTCH AUSTRALIAN
I’ve been living in Australia since 2012, but I’m originally from the Netherlands. As a Dutch woman, I was born with my heart on my sleeve. This means that I’m straight to the point as a coach. I don’t do fluffy fluff. Sugarcoating takes too much time and I want my health coaching to be efficient and effective, but ALWAYS with compassion and heart, to get you the best results.

3 DIFFERENT CONTINENTS AND 2 REMOTE ISLANDS
Since my 20’s, I’ve moved more than 20 times. Lived on 3 different continents, on 2 remote islands, moved interstate, have had to set up my life in a country where I didn’t speak the language and couldn’t read the alphabet. I’ve become an expert at starting my life over, getting organised in the kitchen and setting myself up for a successful healthy lifestyle, time after time, from the bottom up. SEA TURTLES & WALLABIES
Animals are my life. I LOVE nature and wildlife. In my free time you can find me rehabilitating sick and injured sea turtles, cuddling wallabies and talking to the birds around the house. WHY KIM VAN O? The Name
Well… because my full name is Kim van Oudheusden. The standard response I get to that is: “can you please spell that for me”? Because I’m a person who likes to keep things simple, I just dropped off all the letters after “O”. The Biz
I started Kim van O – Health & Nutrition Coaching because I don’t want YOU to go through what I went through; 5 years of stress, cervical cancer screening after cervical cancer screening, hoping the result is going to be okay this time. Ultimately leading to a full hysterectomy when I was 34 years old and a life without kids. Followed by an autoimmune thyroid disease and severe depression. It doesn’t have to be this way. Because I want a life without medical troubles for you, busy woman, I’ll help you set up a healthy lifestyle that really sticks. A healthy lifestyle can prevent disease and will enable you to grow old in a happy and healthy way. You want to keep showing up as a good partner, mum, daughter, sister, friend and employee in the world. TOO BUSY TO GET HEALTHY? I'VE GOT YOU COVERED. I believe being healthy doesn’t have to be hard. You just need the right coach. I’m different than other health coaches because I’ve had to set up my healthy lifestyle more than 20 times, in different countries and know exactly what works or not. I’ve also got expert experience on reversing medical conditions with diet and lifestyle. Doing the hard work and reversing my lifelong asthma, getting rid of my severe depression and getting my hashimoto’s disease under control. I know exactly what it feels like when you think you’ve lost all control and can’t see a way out. I found the way out and can show you how to get there. My favourite thing about this work is that I love human beings and connection. It’s inspiring to work with people who truly want to be happier and healthier. And it’s so rewarding to see the sparkle back in the eyes of a busy women, when she’s found that healthy lifestyle that really sticks. So, if you’re ready to experience a healthy lifestyle in a way you feel energised, motivated, in control, balanced, competent and calm - let’s talk.

Yay, another milestone for our centre!

So happy to release Kelvin last Saturday. He marked our 250th successfully rehabilitated sea turtle going back into the big blue.

With our great success rate of 72%, we've saved the majority of our sick and injured incoming patients since we started in March 2012.

Offline.

I’m doing another residential silent meditation course from the 9th of February to the 20th of February. Ten days of almost 11 hours of meditation per day, not talking to anyone, waking up at 4am every day, no dinner, no phone/technology, no reading, no writing, no music, no tight clothes, no yoga, staying within the property boundaries.

Just slowing down and reconnecting to myself. Witnessing thoughts and sensations, and letting them pass.

To some of you this may sound like prison, but to me it’s absolute bliss.

I’ve done this 10-day course before in 2018. The hardest thing for me back then was to walk slowly when walking around the property. So.incredibly.hard. I’m a type A personality and live life at 1000 miles per hour. To me it literally feels like I’ll lose my balance if I walk slow and fall over, lol. Of course I was just fine walking in slow motion and I didn’t end up on the ground.

I experienced crystal clarity when I finished the course in 2018, and I’ve tried to get back into this course since. Due to restricted numbers during the current times I missed out. This time I’m in. So incredibly grateful. So looking forward to it!

See you all after the 20th 💫

These baby blue eyes are so distracting!

The poor little peanut has ingested plastic. He has been requiring my constant care, but I love looking after him and really hope he’ll make it.

Most hatchlings don’t survive plastic ingestion. With only 1 out of 1000 making it to adulthood in the first place we’ll need to give them all the help we can 💚

Would you like to help this innocent baby and his friends? Prevention is better than cure: please reduce your plastic consumption.

What are some simple swaps you can make? Here are some ideas:
* plastic bag -> reusable shopping
* plastic produce bags -> reusable produce bags
* cling wrap -> bees wax wraps
* tooth paste in tube -> tooth paste in jar
* plastic tooth brush -> bamboo toothbrush
* shampoo and conditioner in a bottle -> shampoo and conditioner bars.
* shower gel -> soap bar
* laundry detergent -> soap berries
* cleaning products -> make your own with baking soda, vinegar, castile soap and essential oils. Heaps better for your health than using the toxic products too.
* sponge cloths -> compostable sponge cloths
* disposable razors -> safety razor
* face cleanser -> cleanser powder
* plastic cotton buds -> paper or bamboo cotton buds
* packaged nut milk -> nut paste to mix into milk
* plastic straws -> paper straws or metal straws)
* plastic cutlery -> bamboo
* plastic plates -> bamboo/palm leaf plates
* plastic water bottles -> reusable water bottle
* takeaway cups -> reusable cups
* tea bags (yes, pretty much every normal tea bag contains plastic) -> loose leaf tea
* supermarket fruit and vegetables packed in plastic -> local fruit and vegetables from the markets or a farm
* packaged nuts, seeds, flours etc -> products from the bulk food bins
* takeaway food in plastic containers -> bring your own container
* packaged snacks -> make your own

After all the travelling in the past few weeks and meeting people, I now too have caught myself some Rona and I'm in iso.

Very, very mild symptoms as I really look after myself properly all-year-round, and have a strong immune system as a result.

In this old post from last year, I share what I do daily to get a strong immune system. It'll make me recover from this really quickly too. Stay healthy everyone!

How to boost your immune system when it matters the most. Learn how to take care of yourself and your loved ones. Make health and wellbeing a priority.

It was my birthday last Saturday, and instead of having a party, I celebrated with Igloo the tortoise. Animals are the best people 💚

I turned 43, same age as Igloo. He’s 200kg and still growing. I’m not planning to do the same ;)

Have you had enough of the emails and social media posts about New Years resolutions yet? Those lovely reminders that make you feel bad about yourself, and that you have to be a “new you” in 2022?

I “unsubscribed” from all of that a couple of years ago and do something completely different. Something that actually works and makes me feel good about the past year, and excited about the year to come.

My approach focusses on things like:

- accomplishments in the past year
- what didn’t work so well
- what you’re ready to let go off
- how you actually want to feel at the end of the year
- hanging out with the right people

Try it yourself and watch the magic happen this year. You can find my simple 6-step plan here: https://www.kimvano.com/new-years-resolutions/

There are quite some similarities in both my professions; sea turtle rehab AND health and nutrition coaching.

Both require me to let the patient and client go after they’ve successfully finished their “program”.

Wanting only the best for them when returning back into the wild, and navigating the big seas alone, OR flying solo and navigating the world of complicated nutrition and lifestyle info.

Hoping that they’ll be okay, but always being there for them if there’s a little hiccup along the way. If they still need some support, I’ll be there. For sea turtles and humans. I absolutely pour my heart into both 💚

In this video you can see me releasing Rita, who was in care with us for 6 months.

Rescuing a sea turtle required me to go for a sunset swim this time.

Still very busy with these helpless animals and not even remotely having time for my health and nutrition biz, besides feeding myself nourishing foods.

I will be back when things quieten down at the turtle centre, I promise. These babies are needing me more at the moment.

Sorry for my absence on social media. I’m being totally consumed by my other passion - sea turtles.

New patients have been flooding in, and I don’t have much time for anything else at the moment. Most patients that have been coming in are in very poor health, and require intensive care. Unfortunately not all of them pulled through, which meant we had to do a few necropsies (post mortems) as well. So sad!

Had a very happy moment releasing Norm this week though. He was found with his head in a puddle of blood and still bleeding when he arrived at the centre. I really didn’t think he would make it. After medical treatment and several weeks in ICU he slowly started to improve though. Once in the main rehabilitation pool he was getting stronger and faster each week. His recovery took 3 months.

When I released Norm, he kept turning around to look back. So cute.
