πŸ’™ Let’s yarn about bowel health πŸ’™

Bowel cancer can affect our mob, but if it’s found early, more than 9 out of 10 people can be treated successfully.

If you’re 45–74 years, you can do a free bowel screening test at home every two years. It’s quick, private, and looks for tiny traces of blood in your poo, even before any signs show up.

No shame. No stress. Just looking after yourself and your loved ones. Not sure where to start or want to know more? βœ… Come in and yarn with our friendly staff today.

πŸ’™ Know the Signs. Have a Yarn Early. πŸ’™

Congratulations Amanda Leslie, we’re so proud of you! πŸŽ“βœ¨

Amanda, our Foster & Kinship Care Placement Support Officer in the Child Youth & Families Program, has officially graduated from the University of New England in Armidale, NSW with a Diploma in Community Welfare & Wellbeing.
Over the past two years, Amanda has balanced part-time online study while working full-time and raising her two children as a single mum β€” an incredible achievement and testament to her dedication and perseverance πŸ‘

Before commencing her diploma, Amanda also completed a one-year preparation program, helping pave the way for her university studies and future career pathways.

In May 2026, Amanda travelled more than 2000km by road to attend her graduation ceremony and celebrate this special milestone πŸš—πŸŽ“

Amanda shared that her studies have strengthened her understanding of the theoretical foundations within her role and enhanced the important work she does supporting children, young people and families in our community.
This achievement also creates a seamless pathway for Amanda to continue her studies into a Bachelor of Community Services and Bachelor of Social Work πŸ“š

Amanda credits her success to the support of her children, her best friend, and her tutor Sam, whose encouragement inspired her to pursue ongoing university education ❀️

We are incredibly proud of Amanda and look forward to seeing all she continues to achieve.πŸ™ŒπŸΎπŸ€©

✨ Mabo Day – 3 June ✨

Today, Nhulundu Health Service honours the legacy of Eddie Koiki Mabo, a proud Meriam man from Mer Island, whose courage helped change Australia’s history forever. πŸ’›

On this day in 1992, the High Court recognised the traditional land rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples ✊🏾, overturning the myth of terra nullius β€” and acknowledging what our people have always known: this land has always been cared for, and belongs to, First Nations people. 🌿

We recognise that a strong connection to Country 🌏, culture πŸ–€πŸ’›β€οΈπŸ’™πŸ’š, and community 🀝 is at the heart of health and wellbeing. Mabo Day reminds us why we continue to support our people β€” strengthening communities πŸ’ͺ, empowering voices πŸ“£, and walking together toward a healthier, stronger future. 🌱

Today, we stand proud in culture ✊🏾, reflect on our shared journey, and continue moving forward together. 🀍
