We have extensive range of designer frames, sunglasses, contact lenses, and prescription lenses to optimise your look and enhance your vision. Our Optometrist George Amaro, has over 30 years experience and conducts comprehensive eye examinations, with

the latest technology, including retinal photography. He is therapeutically endorsed to treat red eyes and other eye diseases, and has expertise in fitting contact lenses. We test Children's vision, and co-manage patients with their GP's and eye specialists that have the following conditions-glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataracts and diabetes. . We will take the time to make sure that your eyes are in the best health and we will prescribe the latest prescription lenses and contact lenses to optimise your vision.. At the same time the final look is just as important and our extensive selection of individual eyewear, will be matched to your personality and lifestyle.

Glebe Eyewear is very excited to introduce the new Stellest 2.0 lenses released by Essilor to help combat myopia progression.

These lenses have been shown to slow myopia progression by 67% on average over a period of two years by almost halving eye growth in myopic children.

Myopia control glasses are the most effective way to reduce progression, however, further lifestyle changes can be taken to reduce the risks by:

- Reducing near work and including regular eye breaks. Extensive near work, such as reading and using digital handheld devices increases the risk of myopia and its progression
- Increasing outdoor activities - Children whom spend less than 3 hours/day on outdoor activities have a high risk of becoming myopic.

Myopia is an ever-growing eye condition affecting a child’s ability to see into the distance and may increase the risk of potential eye diseases, such as glaucoma, retinal detachment, and maculopathy, in the future.
By 2050, almost half of the world is predicted to have myopia, hence why preventing its progression in children is crucial.
All children should have a baseline eye examination at 3 years of age and a followup eye examination at 5 years, before starting primary school.
This is especially important if the child’s parents have myopia - one myopic parent increases the risk by 33%, while two myopic parents increases the risk by 67% .
Early screening will pick up those children at high risk of becoming myopic and give them the best chance at delaying its progression.
