FAQ Friday: How Many Chiropractic Appointments Will I Need?

This is another really common question—and a very fair one to ask.

The honest answer is: it depends.

Everyone comes in with a different story, different goals, and different bodies. Some people are dealing with a recent flare-up, while others have had ongoing issues for months or even years. Because of that, there isn’t a set number of visits that suits everyone.

At your first appointment, we take the time to understand what’s been going on, assess how your body is moving, and get a clear picture of what you’re hoping to achieve. From there, we can give you a more personalised idea of what care might look like.

Some people feel significant improvement in just a few visits. Others may benefit from a longer period of care, especially if their concern has been around for a while or involves multiple factors like posture, lifestyle, or stress.

Our goal is always to support you in a way that makes sense for your situation—without locking you into rigid plans or unnecessary appointments. We’ll regularly check in on your progress and adjust things as needed.

Ultimately, it’s about working together to help you move and feel better, at a pace that’s right for you.

What other questions have you always wanted to ask a chiropractor? Leave them in the comments below, and we might answer them in a future FAQ Friday.

🍕 Leftover dough… or lunch waiting to happen?

Two days ago it was homemade gözleme.

Today? It became mini pizzas on the Weber for lunch. 🙌

I love finding ways to stretch what we’ve already made instead of starting from scratch. A little leftover dough, a handful of ingredients from the fridge, and suddenly lunch feels fun again.

And yes… before anyone asks…

We’re proudly on Team Pineapple. 🍍😅

Ham, pineapple, mushrooms, capsicum and plenty of cheese. Crispy on the outside, soft in the middle, and somehow they taste even better cooked on the Weber.

It’s a little reminder that homemade food doesn’t have to be complicated. Sometimes the best meals come from looking at what’s already in your kitchen and getting a little creative.

Those simple moments around the table—where everyone’s building their own pizza, sneaking extra cheese, and debating the pineapple controversy—often become the memories our kids remember most.

🍕 So here’s my challenge for you…

If you could only save ONE pizza topping for the rest of your life, what would it be?

No cheating. No lists. Just one.

Let’s settle this once and for all… and yes, pineapple defenders, this is your moment. 🍍👇

This is what “just making dinner” looks like in our house… 😂

It starts with a ball of dough.

Then somehow the kitchen ends up covered in flour, there’s chopped greens everywhere, and someone inevitably asks…

“Is it ready yet?”

Today’s filling was simple:
🥬 Silverbeet
🌱 Shallots
🧅 Onion
🧀 Plenty of authentic Greek feta

Wrapped inside homemade dough and cooked until golden, crispy and impossible to eat neatly.

If you’ve never made gozleme from scratch, it’s one of those recipes that slows you down in the best way.

You knead.
You chop.
You roll.
You fold.
You wait for that beautiful golden crust to appear.

Then comes the best part… hearing that first crunch before the warm feta and greens spill out with every bite.

One of the things I love most about cooking is that recipes evolve.

Gozleme may not be Greek, but every time I make it, the flavours instantly remind me of homemade spanakopita. The silverbeet, the feta, the fresh onion… they’re all flavours I grew up with, just wrapped up in a different tradition.

It’s become one of those recipes that’s no longer just borrowed inspiration—it’s become part of our family’s table.

👇 What’s the one homemade dish that instantly takes you back to your childhood? Mine will always have some pretty strong Greek competition. 🇬🇷❤️

Did you know the very first chiropractic adjustment wasn’t for someone’s back… but for their hearing? 🤔

It’s one of the most fascinating stories in chiropractic history.

Back in 1895, William Harvey Lillard, who had significant hearing loss, reported that his hearing improved following an adjustment by D.D. Palmer.

Whether you’ve heard that story before or not, it’s an incredible piece of chiropractic history that has sparked curiosity for well over 130 years.

It also got me thinking…

How many of us only ever think about our ears… when something starts going wrong?

Ear pain.

Blocked ears.

Ringing.

A feeling of pressure.

Muffled hearing.

If you’ve ever experienced any of those, you know just how frustrating they can be.

2 weeks ago, I switched into chiropractor mum mode.

My son came to me because his ears were hurting.

As his mum, I wanted to know what was happening.

As his chiropractor, I became curious.

Had he been sick recently?

Was he congested?

Was he holding tension through his jaw?

How was he moving?

How was his posture?

These are the kinds of questions I ask every day in practice.

Because while people often focus on where they feel something…

I’m always interested in what else might be going on throughout the body.

Every person is different.

Every presentation is different.

And that’s why every assessment should be different too.

One of the things I love most about raising my children in a chiropractic family is that they’ve learned to listen to their bodies, ask questions, and have concerns assessed rather than simply hoping they’ll disappear.

That mindset alone is something I’m incredibly grateful for.

💬 I’d love to hear from you…

Have you ever experienced ear pain, blocked ears, ringing in the ears, or another ear-related symptom and included a chiropractor as part of your healthcare journey?

What was your experience?

👇 I’ve also included a link to the historical records of Harvey Lillard’s story if you’d like to read about the event that marked the beginning of the chiropractic profession. It’s a fascinating piece of history.

Last Sunday, I attended a silent retreat, and unexpectedly, a tree became my greatest teacher.

It was tall, strong and covered in deep lines and scars.

As I stood there touching its trunk, I realised something.

Those scars didn't make the tree less beautiful.

They made it more beautiful.

They told a story.

A story of storms weathered, seasons survived, challenges overcome.

And maybe we're no different.

We all carry wounds, experiences, traumas, belief systems and moments that have shaped us. Some have empowered us, while others have held us back.

But what if the very things we try to hide are actually the things that make us who we are?

What if our scars aren't flaws?

What if they're proof of our resilience?

Last week also reminded me that even though I'm around my children a lot, I haven't always been as present as I'd hoped. Watching a mother and daughter simply sitting together made me realise how quickly time passes and how important it is to intentionally create space for connection.

Maybe life isn't asking us to do more.

Maybe it's asking us to slow down enough to notice what truly matters.

Like the tree, perhaps we can stand strong, grounded and proud, not despite our scars... but because of them. 🌿

✨ If your scars could speak, what lesson would they be trying to teach you right now?

I'd love to hear your thoughts below. 💚

Who else has a child that could eat wonton noodle soup every single week? 🙋‍♀️🍜

Mine certainly could.

But instead of reaching for the takeaway version, I love making this homemade recipe inspired by Pete Evans’ Easy Keto cookbook. It gives us all the comfort of a big bowl of wonton noodle soup, without the MSG and many of the additives often found in store-bought versions.

It’s become one of those meals I know will disappear without complaints (which, let’s be honest, is a parenting win in itself! 😂).

I love knowing exactly what’s going into my family’s meals, while still giving them foods they genuinely get excited about.

If you’re looking for another family-friendly dinner that feels nourishing, comforting and kid-approved, this one is definitely worth trying.

👇 I’ve popped the recipe in the comments.

Now I’m curious…

What’s the one takeaway meal you’ve learned to make at home because your family loves it so much? You might just inspire someone else’s next dinner!

This is why we also check your jaw and cranial system when you are pregnant. Jaw and cranial imbalances can also affect your pelvic balance.

Clench your teeth (lightly, not max).

Now bend forward and reach toward your toes.

Come back up.

Relax your jaw: lips closed, teeth not touching.

Bend forward again.

If the second rep felt different (range, ease, low-back grab, hip tension)… That wasn’t flexibility. That was your jaw changing your pelvic brace.

Most people don’t realize these two structures are linked. Not just through posture or movement habits, but through your developmental blueprint. They formed from the same embryonic tissue. They’re connected by fascia that wraps your entire nervous system. When one moves, the other responds.

This is why your hip pain keeps coming back no matter how much you stretch. This is why your pelvic floor won’t release no matter how many exercises you do. This is why your lower back locks up and nothing seems to fix it.

You’ve been treating the pelvis. But the signal is coming from above.

I wrote about exactly how this connection works and why it’s one of three inputs that control your entire posture. When you understand these three systems, you’ll understand why stretching never fixed anything.

“Human beings are spending week after week
without being touched by another human being,
and we have become so accustomed to this
reality that we rarely stop to consider how
biologically absurd it is.”

For almost all of human history, people lived in
close-knit communities. Families slept near one
another, worked together, carried children,
embraced in grief, celebrated together, cared
for the sick, and experienced regular physical
contact.

Touch wasn't considered a therapy, it was
simply part of being human.

Our nervous systems evolved in that
environment.

Healthy, consensual touch can influence stress
hormones, heart rate, blood pressure, oxytocin
release, and feelings of safety and connection.
Infants literally fail to thrive without sufficient
nurturing touch.

Adults don't stop needing it just because we
grow up.
