🌟 Expressions of Interest – Could This Be Your Next Career Move? 🌟

Family Planning Tasmania is growing our workforce.

We're excited to share that we're looking to recruit Registered Nurses in both the North and South of the State, with positions anticipated to commence in January 2027.

"But it's only August... why are you asking now?"

Great question!

We're putting out an Expression of Interest (EOI) early so you have plenty of time to prepare, develop your skills, and make sure you have everything you need when recruitment officially opens.

If you've been thinking about working in Sexual and Reproductive Health, now is the perfect time to start planning!

What are the prerequisites?
To be eligible, you'll need:
✅ A minimum of 2 years' foundational nursing knowledge and clinical practice
✅ A Sexual and Reproductive Health Certificate (this is an essential requirement)

Is this for you?
If you're passionate about providing high-quality, person-centred care, enjoy learning, and would love to be part of a supportive and dynamic team, we'd love to hear from you.

Submitting an EOI doesn't lock you into applying—it's simply a way of letting us know you're interested and helping you prepare for the opportunities ahead.

Keep an eye out for more information over the coming months, and if you've been waiting for the right opportunity... this might just be it!

When matching green scrub days became everyone's favourite kind of day... 💚

It all started with a few of our amazing doctors turning up in matching green scrubs. The compliments kept coming, the photos looked great, even Neil the Seal had scrub game, and before we knew it, we were wondering...

"What if every day could be Green Scrub Day?"

So, after a little convincing (and maybe some very enthusiastic lunchtime lobbying 😉), our boss said yes!

Now we've got our very own Family Planning Tasmania branded scrubs, and we couldn't be more excited to have them as part of our wardrobe options across our clinics.

They're more than just a fresh new look—they're a reflection of the incredible team behind them. Whether you're visiting us in Burnie, Launceston or Glenorchy, you'll be greeted by the same friendly faces, compassionate care and you might just spot some of our team rocking our new green scrubs! 💚

Turns out persistence isn't just useful in healthcare... it's also how you convince the boss to order branded scrubs. 😄 Green Scrub Day might not be every day for everyone, but it's definitely here to stay!

We're sharing this important post because family violence is not an isolated issue—it is a public health issue that affects individuals, families and communities across Tasmania.

At Family Planning Tasmania, we are committed to providing trauma-informed care, ensuring every person who accesses our services is met with compassion, respect and without judgement. We recognise the lasting impacts trauma can have on health and wellbeing, including sexual and reproductive health, and we're committed to creating a safe space where people feel heard, supported and empowered.

We welcome reporting that recognises these tragic events within the broader context of family violence. Building awareness is an important step towards prevention, alongside improving access to support, education and services for those affected.

If you or someone you know needs a safe place to seek sexual and reproductive healthcare, information or support, our team is here to help.

Together, we can continue the conversation, challenge the attitudes that enable violence and advocate for a safer Tasmania for everyone.

It is World Hepatitis Day! 💚

Almost 300,000 people in Australia are living with hepatitis B or hepatitis C, putting them at increased risk of liver disease and liver cancer.

Hepatitis B has effective treatment and a vaccine. Hepatitis C has a cure and is preventable.

Whether that next step is getting tested, talking to a doctor, getting vaccinated, starting treatment, hosting an event or raising awareness, every action moves Australia closer to eliminating hepatitis B and hepatitis C.

🎵 If Persistent Pelvic Pain had a playlist...

🎶 "Under Pressure" – Queen & David Bowie
Because your pelvic floor doesn't always know how to relax.

🎶 "It's Complicated" – Avril Lavigne
Persistent pelvic pain rarely has one single cause.

🎶 "I Will Survive" – Gloria Gaynor
To everyone navigating appointments, flare-ups and the daily juggle—you really are surviving.

🎶 "Help!" – The Beatles
A reminder that asking for support is a strength, not a weakness.

🎶 "Don't Stop Me Now" – Queen
For the days when your body lets you do what you love.

🎶 "Lean On Me" – Bill Withers
Because managing persistent pelvic pain is easier with the right team around you.

🎶 "Stronger" – Kelly Clarkson
Not because pain makes you stronger—but because you've shown incredible resilience.

💛 Persistent pelvic pain is more than "just bad period pain." It can affect every part of life, including work, study, relationships, sleep and mental wellbeing. The good news? You don't have to manage it alone.

At Family Planning Tasmania, our multidisciplinary Persistent Pelvic Pain Pathway brings together doctors, nurses, pelvic floor physiotherapists, psychologists and dietitians to provide holistic, person-centred care tailored to your needs.

📍 Appointments are available at our Burnie, Launceston and Glenorchy clinics.

📞 If persistent pelvic pain is affecting your life, reach out today and book an appointment. The earlier you access support, the sooner you can begin working with a team that understands persistent pelvic pain and is here to help.
