ADHD isn't just hard for children, it can be hard for parents too.

Research reveals a cycle between ADHD behaviours and parenting stress.

πŸ”„ ADHD behaviours increase parent stress.

πŸ”„ High parent stress make it harder to respond calmly and consistently.

πŸ”„ This can lead to more challenging behaviours from the ADHD child, creating a cycle that affects the whole family.

The good news? Supporting parents' wellbeing can be just as important as supporting the child.

When parents feel calmer, more confident, and better supported, everyone benefits. πŸ’™

If you are a parent in need, reach out for support and everyone will benefit.

Parenting Matters - Here's why

Children with ADHD who experienced less warmth, more criticism, inconsistency, and harsh control are more likely to experience depression and suicidal thoughts according to research.

πŸ’™ The good news? Positive, supportive parenting can make a real difference.

Small changes can help:
βœ… Show warmth and encouragement
βœ… Be consistent with expectations
βœ… Focus on connection before correction
βœ… Celebrate effort, not just outcomes

Children with ADHD thrive when they feel understood, supported, and valued.

When children with ADHD struggle to stop using devices, it's easy to focus on the screen.

But often what's underneath is a brain seeking:

✨ Stimulation
✨ Connection
✨ Predictability

πŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ί School support for students with ADHD 🧠

Students with ADHD are entitled to support and accommodations to help them succeed in their education. Schools are required to provide reasonable adjustments under the Disability Discrimination Act and the Disability Standards for Education.

Some common support strategies for students with ADHD in Australia include:
- Individualized Learning Plans (ILPs) that outline specific accommodations and goals for the student
- Access to a school counselor or psychologist for additional support
- Extra time on assessments or exams
- Preferential seating in the classroom
- Use of assistive technology, such as noise-cancelling headphones or organizational apps

If you or your child has ADHD, we can create a supportive environment that enables your student to thrive academically.

Remember, you're not alone in this journey - reach out to My ADHD Coach if you need assistance.

There are resources and support available to help students with ADHD succeed in school! πŸ“š
