Endlessly talking about a problem, analysing it, and revisiting all the reasons you're stuck, usually makes it worse.

The same is true with anxiety.
The more attention we give to the symptoms, the story, and the apparent causes, the more real and solid they can become.

That doesn't mean ignore it or never talk about it. Sometimes getting things out can be helpful.

But I find that for many strong, capable people who are good at holding everything together, talking about their problems, and the way they're feeling, is the last thing they want to do.

So they suffer in silence, but the good thing is, you don't have to...

Real and lasting relief - and solutions, appear rapidly when you stop trying to solve the problem at the level of the problem.

What I've found with most people I've worked with is that anxiety eases surprisingly quickly when people realise they have far more control than they think they do.

Not the usual type of control through force…

like trying to control yourself through sheer willpower, or trying to control everyone and everything around you.

I'm talking about real control that allows you to move forward with ease, and with a sense of being OK no matter what.

And that comes from shifting things at the level of the cause, instead of wrestling with the effects.

When that shift happens, the relief can be enormous and it doesn't need to be complicated, arduous, or take a long time.

It's one of my favourite things to witness in people I work with, as well as in myself whenever I need it.

If you've been working on something, and suddenly it starts to feel heavy or like something's off, don't push harder.
That usually makes things go backwards.
Instead, take a step back.
Look at what's happening like you're watching a movie - with you in it. That's the first step to shifting things.
Often the problem isn't the situation itself. It's that you're trying to move forward from a state of misalignment.
When you get back in alignment first, everything moves differently.

The “pain-body,” as explained by Eckhart Tolle, is like a storage bin for all the emotional hurt we’ve accumulated over time. It’s what we ‘stuffed down’ when we didn’t know how to deal with it.

And as the book called “The Body Keeps the Score” is about, this trauma of past pain is literally stored in the body.

Many driven and focused people try to ignore the pain body and just push on…. but it can’t be ignored or pushed aside!

Luckily though, it CAN be easily dealt with.

With awareness, and a reliable way of dealing with it, we can prevent it from taking over our thoughts, words, and actions. Left unchecked, the pain body will control your life, no matter how hard you try to out run it!

So being aware of your pain body, and even better… knowing how to dissolve it, is the most powerful thing that you can do for yourself, as well as those around you.

It starts and ends with acceptance and self-compassion, but in between, there are fast and powerful modalities to free you from the pain body super quickly.

What does Michael Singer mean by ‘There’s a place for techniques but they’re meangingless unless you know what you’re doing.’? He’s talking about the need to see how everything fits together. How do all the self-growth and spiritual growth tools and techniques fit into the big picture of what you are ultimately aiming at? How does the ice bath fit with the positive thinking or the yoga and meditation fit with new work habits? Without a big ‘why’ or the big picture, all of the things that we’re urged to do to improve ourselves can just become part of the problem. DM to learn more about the big picture that makes things simple.

Are you scared to feel contentment? Did you know that this is a common, but little known form of self-sabotage?
I used to struggle with it myself and now I’m seeing it a lot in the people I’m working with. It’s especially common in young entrepreneurs, and anyone who feels driven towards achieving great things in their lives. They fear that if they allow themselves to feel contented then they’ll stop forging ahead. And that just a lie we’ve been taught. The aim is to feel contented now AND be eager to improve things and expand to the next level… whatever that is for you. The trick is in the balance, and when you learn how to live in flow you naturally achieve that.
