The mission of Inspiring Choices 4 Kids Therapy is to empower our clients, their parents and their caregivers to lead the life they want to live. With understanding in brain development and organisation, using the science of developmental and functional neurology, sensory processing, movement, cognition and learning, social brain awareness, and nutritional medicine, everyone can achieve optimal fu

nction and break the barriers of their conditions. Our goal is for children to feel safe, to learn to regulate their emotions, develop happier and more joyful relationships with their parents and in school, to thrive in their learning, and enjoy improved health. We value and respect the rights, responsibilities and aspirations of people with a disability while promoting maximum inclusion and participation. We believe the best results are achieved when parents are involved in their child’s therapeutic process, working as an integral part of our integrative team of professionals. We offer a space of safety, patience, tolerance and acceptance, where you and your family can feel supported and understood. We will help you to communicate your concerns, understand your child’s needs and develop strategies to integrate changes into your and your child’s daily life, one step at a time.

Here’s a little peek at some of the activities happening behind the doors at Children’s Therapy Services Queensland.

At CTSQ, therapy doesn’t always look like therapy.

It might look like bouncing, swinging, climbing, balancing, creating, playing, laughing or exploring but behind every activity there is therapeutic thinking, individual goals and opportunities to build new skills.

Through carefully selected activities, our team can support children to develop areas such as:

🌿 Regulation and sensory processing
🧠 Motor planning and coordination
💪 Strength, balance and postural control
🗣️ Communication and interaction
🤝 Social connection and confidence
✋ Fine and gross motor skills
🎯 Attention, participation and independence

Most importantly, we want children to feel safe, connected and engaged while they learn and develop.

Here’s just a little snippet of what you might see happening around our Robina clinic!

We’re currently working through Tomatis® practitioner training, with the aim of bringing this listening-based approach to children and families across the Gold Coast and beyond.

The Tomatis® Method uses specially processed music and voice through specialised listening equipment. It is designed to support auditory processing and listening, with programs individually selected according to a person’s needs.

Depending on the individual, Tomatis® may be used as part of a broader therapeutic approach to support areas such as:

🧠 Attention & concentration
👂 Listening & auditory processing
🗣️ Communication & language development
📚 Learning and engagement
🎵 Auditory discrimination
🌱 Participation and regulation

At Children’s Therapy Services Queensland, our aim is to continue expanding the range of evidence-informed approaches available within our multidisciplinary service.

We’re excited to be progressing through the training and look forward to sharing more about Tomatis® at CTSQ as we move closer to offering the service.

🏆 A very proud moment for Connie! 🏆

Connie popped into the clinic to show us the belts she has earned through her recent competitions and we loved chatting about her achievements and holding the belts!

Connie has worked with some of our team at Children’s Therapy Services Queensland on and off alongside her training over the years, and it has been wonderful to follow her journey.

Her commitment, determination and hard work in her training have been incredible, and those belts represent a lot of effort both in and outside of the competition arena.

Well done, Connie, you should be incredibly proud of yourself!

Slime isn’t just play 💜

Sometimes the simplest activities can be the ones our children naturally gravitate towards.

My 9-year-old absolutely loves slime, and it’s something we often use at home. I’ve noticed that when her hands are busy squeezing, stretching, rolling and manipulating the slime, she can appear calmer and more settled, and often finds it easier to focus and sustain her attention.

Slime provides a fun, hands-on sensory experience and can involve lots of different types of play, squeezing, pulling, stretching, rolling, hiding objects and creating shapes.

For some children, sensory play can be an enjoyable activity to include within their day, particularly during transitions, after school, while listening or when they simply need some downtime.

And the best part? Supporting sensory needs doesn’t always require specialist equipment. Sometimes everyday activities at home can provide meaningful opportunities for sensory exploration and play.

Every child is different, so what one child finds calming or engaging may not have the same effect for another. Follow your child’s cues and interests.

For my child, slime is definitely one of those activities that helps her slow down, reconnect and settle.
