That pain chart you fill out before your scan has a good reason why so we ask you to take your time with it. 😊 ✍️
Where you feel pain, whether it travels, and how it behaves can provide important clinical context when your images are reviewed.
Dr Zane assesses the imaging and anatomical findings, then considers these alongside the patient’s symptoms and pain pattern.
Do the imaging findings correlate with what the patient is experiencing?
This is important because not every finding on an MRI is necessarily responsible for a patient’s symptoms. The aim is to look at the whole clinical picture, rather than viewing an image in isolation.
Your pain chart can also help inform the most appropriate imaging approach and, where relevant, the structures or areas that may need closer assessment.
So when we ask you to fill it out, please don’t rush it!!
The more accurately you can describe your pain, the more useful that information can be as part of your overall assessment.
