An amazing spot in Mykonos, at Kiki’s there is no electricity, everything is cooked on a charcoal grill, salads made fresh every day. When you arrive, the owner makes your place in the queue and without writing any names or numbers down, he just remembers when it’s your turn.
He brings out cold rosé while you wait, and you can go for a dip in the turquoise sea below before an amazing lunch!

A must foodie experience 🤍

My first time trying octopus, may as well be as fresh as you can get 👌🏼

Seafood has so many health benefits, with essential nutrients and healthy fats, it’s an important part of a fertility friendly diet and balanced hormones.

Whilst you can have a nutritionally balanced vegetarian or vegan diet, it takes WORK, vigilance, dedication and education to get it right.

Often amongst nutritionists and naturopath colleagues, we come across patients who have lost their period being vegan, which makes it very difficult to fall pregnant obviously, but more importantly it means your body doesn’t feel it is a good time to reproduce, and shuts off any non life saving functions such as ovulation.

Re-introduction slowly to good quality seafood and sometimes eggs can be a kick start the body needs to get ovulating again and have a regular cycle.

Wild caught, organic is great if you can get it, it’s not the only seafood that makes a health difference but it is usually more ethical than farming and less harmful to the environment.

Have you re-introduced seafood after being vego or have thought about it? I’d love to hear your experience 🥰 let us know in the comments 🙏🏼

Kale Caesar Salad ~

You’ll need:
• 1 small bunch of curly kale
• 2 eggs
• 1 avocado
• 4 slices short cut free range bacon
• 1 slice sourdough
For the creamy dressing:
• 2 tablespoon tahini
• 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
• 3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
• 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Chop your kale, squeeze some lemon juice and drizzle extra virgin olive oil on top, along with a crack of salt and massage it all through the kale. This step is really important to enjoying your salad as it softens the kale dramatically and makes it much more tasty and easy to chew.

Chop and add avocado to the mix, squishing it a bit and coating the kale.

Cut your bacon into small pieces and fry in a little olive oil, add to the kale.

For soft boiled eggs: boil water in a saucepan, once the water is vigorously bubbling, add 2 eggs gently to the boiling saucepan, and set a timer for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes, take out your eggs, run them under cold water to easily peel, half and set aside to add to your salad at the end. This is the best way to get perfect soft boiled eggs with a runny yolk 😍

For the crouton element, slice the sourdough into small pieces and lightly toast in the same pan as the bacon. It will soak up the bacon flavours and oils and is pretty delicious.

For the dressing:
Mix tahini, lemon juice, apple cider vinegar and extra virgin olive oil together and mix it through the kale salad.

Add your eggs on top and voila 💛

Creamy kale Caesar salad ~

I use kale in this recipe as a substitute for cos lettuce to create diversity. Not to say I always use kale as my lettuce base, I often DO use cos lettuce, but it’s nice to try something different in this case and great for your gut microbiome to add diversity.
Kale supports oestrogen clearance so is beneficial for hormone balance if you tend to be oestrogen dominant and it contains sulforaphane which is has anti inflammatory and promising anti cancer properties. As a dark green leafy vegetable, it is also a rich source of plant based folate and iron, both vital for women’s fertility, brain health and energy levels.

Baby’s first foods 🥰

Most babies will show signs when they are ready to start eating solids, but it can be hard to know what to feed them….

Some first foods examples:
🥑 avocado
🍠 purée sweet potato & pumpkin
🍐 stewed pear or apple
🥦 steamed broccoli florets
🍞 toast strips
🥞 banana pancakes
🫐 berries cut in half
🍌 banana strips
As they get older 7-8 months:
🥩 steak strips (babies teething love this!)
🥘 slow cooked brisket
🍗 chicken

Try introducing a small amount of vegetable purée or piece of avocado and working through different low allergen foods before introducing the allergens (peanuts, soy, egg, shellfish, tree nuts, cows milk, wheat, fish and sesame).

Until 12 months babies nutrition comes mostly from their milk (breast or formula) so solid foods are more for exploring!

Let them get messy, squish banana in their hands, choose between the peanut butter toast or the cut up strawberry it’s all about enjoyment when introducing foods 😊

My upcoming mums and bubs nutrition workshop with will discuss all things baby nutrition, how to introduce allergens, what foods to offer and what nutrients are important for bub.

Book via the MINDBODY app 🥰💛

This beautiful bubba’s photo was shared with permission from his mum and dad x
