Day One - Melbourne Showgrounds to Repco Mount Gambier

Here's the preview - noting the 'D29' etc is 'Directive 29' and numbering will match those on the route mapping that all will have.
It’s all city until you arrive to the outskirts of Geelong and find ROUTE R turning into their competitive prologue.
The first-time check of the event for Route E starts at Anakie where Route R combatants will arrive later to start the Peter Brock Stage. Route E entrants should have already left this location and through good paced roads make your way north up to the north east of Ballarat into Creswick for the first combined stage of the event being the original Geoff Portman Stage. The realigned 19.24km distance well known to locals due to its history will see forestry and tight corners particularly D29 and D32. From there it’s a finish and drive through suburban Ballarat with all roads leading south west some 175km through towns including Dunkeld then a refresh / refuel in Hamilton. Route R can't miss D42 where a extended original Heywood Stage starts as you’ll then leapfrog across narrow roads with changing surfaces but nothing to worry about before passing entering the Cobboboonee National Park where Route R will finish their final stage. Route E will bypass this stage and all cars will finish at Repco Mount Gambier via the rear service entry as per 2019.

Entries officially open Thursday 5th August 2027 when the website will also be online.
