Important safety reminder for women with a concealed safety phone
AusAlert will run a national test alert across Australia.
The test alert is expected to go to most mobile phones, and some smart watches and tablets. Devices may vibrate and play a siren-like warning sound for around 10 seconds.
If you have a second or concealed safety phone, please plan ahead.
Because this is a Critical Alert, it cannot be turned off in your phone settings. To prevent the alert sounding, AusAlert advises that the device needs to be turned off or switched to aeroplane mode before the scheduled test time, and kept off or in aeroplane mode for at least one hour.
For Queensland, NSW, ACT, Victoria and Tasmania, the test is scheduled for 2:00pm AEST.
For SA and NT, it is scheduled for 1:30pm ACST.
For WA, it is scheduled for 12:00pm AWST.
Please share this information discreetly with anyone who may need it. A safety phone can be a lifeline, but only if it stays concealed when it needs to.
More information is available on the official AusAlert website.
