Swell Sculptures - so much more accessible this year!🌊✨

This year’s Swell Sculpture Festival is truly spectacular — so diverse and noticeably more accessible than in previous years. 🌿 Along the walkway to Tugun Beach, I discovered extra sculptures, each one adding surprise and delight to the walk.

Even better, I came across a terrific accessibility feature: a pathway of solid plastic tiles laid across the sand. 🚲♿ Whether you’re on a bike, pushing a pram, using a wheelchair, stick, or crutches — this path makes the beach so much more welcoming.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful to see these tiles available year-round, not just during the fortnight of the Swell Festival? 💡

“I’m Still Standing” – Reflections by the Ocean

There’s a tree by the beach I’ve always loved.�In summers past, it was my shady haven — a quiet place to rest after a swim, towel on the sand, time to read and enjoy some quiet time. Earlier this year, things changed.
Cyclone Alfred battered our coastline. The beach still looks so different now — a lot of the sand has been stripped away, and the waves feel closer. The tree also took a hit. Some branches are broken, others bare. But it’s still there.
Still standing.�Still watching over the ocean.
Much like many of us.
When life takes an unexpected turn — through illness, loss, or major change — it can feel like a storm has swept through. Things don’t look or feel the same. But like that tree, we adapt. We hold firm. We continue.
And sometimes, in that stillness, we begin to find new strength, new meaning, and new possibilities.

We draw our inspiration from the dragonfly – a creature that spends much of its early life underwater, unseen. But then one day, it climbs to the surface and breaks through… to find it has wings.
