The majority of people I work with are not eating enough vegetables. Australian dietary guidelines suggest that we should be eating 5 serves of vegetables and 2 serves of fruit every SINGLE day. Rich in fibre, these foods are essential for a healthy and functional gut.
Benefits of eating enough fibre:
🥦 Roughage sweeps the colon clean on it’s way through.
🥦 Binds to toxins to carry them out. Inadequate fibre = reabsorption of toxins.
🥦 Provides a fuel source for beneficial bacteria. The byproduct of this is involved in healthy gut-brain communication.
🥦 Improves the frequency and form of bowel movements.
🥦 Reduces cholesterol levels (through preventing it’s reabsorption).
🥦 Supports healthy weight management.
If it feels like a stretch then I highly recommend getting creative with breakfast.
