Do you have an NDIS plan? With Support Coordination? Confusing right? 🤷🏼‍♀️

Support Coordination helps NDIS participants understand and use their NDIS plan effectively. A Support Coordinator can help you:

* Understand your funding and supports
* Connect with suitable service providers
* Build your confidence and independence
* Coordinate different supports and services
* Work through challenges or changes in your circumstances
* Develop skills to exercise choice and control over your supports

Recovery Coaching

Recovery Coaching is focused on supporting people with psychosocial disability to build their confidence, wellbeing and independence. A Recovery Coach can help you:

* Identify personal goals and what recovery means to you
* Build skills and strategies to manage challenges
* Strengthen connections with community and supports
* Develop confidence, resilience and self-advocacy
* Navigate services and work towards greater independence

In simple terms: Support Coordination focuses on helping you navigate and make the most of your NDIS plan, while Recovery Coaching focuses on your personal recovery, wellbeing, goals and building confidence for the future.

Mindfulness Tips 🌿

✨ Take a few slow, deep breaths.
✨ Notice what you can see, hear and feel.
✨ Put your phone down and be present.
✨ Focus on one thing at a time.
✨ Give yourself permission to pause.
✨ Don’t judge your thoughts—just notice them.

Mindfulness isn’t about clearing your mind. It’s about being present in the moment. 💚

🌊 Why is the ocean so grounding?

There’s something about the sound of the waves, the fresh air and watching the water move that can help us slow down, breathe and reconnect with ourselves.

But grounding looks different for everyone.

Maybe it’s the ocean.
🌿 A walk in nature.
🎶 Music.
☕ A quiet cup of coffee.
🐾 Time with your pets.
🏡 Your favourite safe space.

What’s your space? 💙

Find the place, person or activity that helps you feel calm, present and connected — and make time for it.

Your mental health deserves that space too. 🌿

Peer work is both rewarding and demanding, and having dedicated time to reflect, learn, and grow can make a real difference.
Practice supervision provides a safe, supportive space to explore challenges, celebrate successes, and continue developing as a peer worker. My approach is collaborative, reflective, and grounded in recovery-oriented practice.
With over 25 years' experience in mental health, together with my background in recovery-oriented practice and Intentional Peer Support, I value the unique contribution that lived experience brings to supporting others.
I currently have capacity to provide Practice Supervision for Peer Workers and would welcome the opportunity to work with individuals or organisations seeking quality, reflective supervision.
If you'd like to learn more or discuss whether my supervision style is a good fit for you or your organisation, please feel free to reach out.

Let’s talk about the NDIS and mental health. 💚

There are still so many misconceptions about psychosocial disability and the NDIS.

The NDIS isn’t designed to treat mental illness—that’s the role of the health system. Instead, it can provide supports that help people build independence, develop skills, strengthen relationships, and participate more fully in everyday life when their mental health has a significant and ongoing impact on their functioning.

Navigating the NDIS can feel confusing, and many people don’t know where to start or whether they’re even eligible.

What questions do you have about mental health and the NDIS?

Drop them in the comments or send us a private message. If we can help answer your questions or point you in the right direction, we will.

Let’s start an open, respectful conversation—because understanding leads to better support. 💚

👋 Hi and welcome!

I thought it was time to introduce myself. I’m Brett, the person behind Kaha.

My career has been anything but conventional. Over the years I’ve worked as a labourer, grave digger, charter boat deckhand, hydrographic surveyor, painter, ICU nurse, mental health nurse, and senior manager in the NGO sector.

Every one of those roles has taught me something valuable, but the biggest lesson has been this: everyone’s journey is different, and every person deserves to be heard without judgement.

Alongside my professional experience, I also bring my own lived experience of mental health challenges. It has given me a genuine understanding of recovery, resilience, and the importance of being treated with dignity, compassion, and respect.

Today, I’m proud to work as an independent NDIS Recovery Coach, supporting people to build meaningful lives on their own terms. I believe the best outcomes come from authentic relationships, honest conversations, and practical support that is tailored to each individual.

Thank you for being here and following along. Whether you’re looking for support, information, or simply want to learn more about recovery, I’m glad you’ve found your way here.

Welcome to Kaha. 💚
