New term means new outreach kit! π
Every new school term the Talkers and Eaters outreach kit is refreshed with new activities, toys and resources to fit new themes πΏπ.
"Why does the kit get a new theme." I hear you ask.
1οΈβ£ Repeated exposure to specific vocabulary
If I am talking about the same things and using the same words every time I see someone for multiple weeks, they will pick up on new words and become more confident with familiar words. Specific words like 'sprout' π±, 'scarecrow' π and 'fry' π³may not come up everyday, so it's a chance for my patients to learn new words and practice using them each time they see me.
2οΈβ£ Exposure to new experiences
Having themed activities gives patients a chance to interact with and talk about experiences that may not be part of their day-to-day experience. Activities like ocean swimming π, vegetable growing π₯or eating in a restaurant π©βπ³may not be familiar to them, so it's a chance to build world understanding and help lay foundations for understanding other people's perspectives.
I can't wait to be on the road again and seeing all my outreach clients.
