🧘 Stretch of the Week: Calf Stretch (Straight Knee)
Did you know your calves play an important role in almost every step you take? πŸšΆβ€β™€οΈ
Whether you enjoy walking, running, gardening, or simply staying active day-to-day, keeping your calves flexible can help support comfortable movement and healthy ankle mobility.
This week's stretch, demonstrated by our Principal Physiotherapist Daniel, targets the gastrocnemius (calf muscle) and is a simple addition to your daily routine.
Regular calf stretching may help:
βœ” Improve flexibility and ankle movement
βœ” Reduce muscle tightness and stiffness
βœ” Support walking and running activities
βœ” Keep your legs feeling ready for movement
Try adding this stretch into your day and see how your calves feel! 😊
Looking for more simple ways to keep your body moving well? Browse our Stretch of the Week series for easy exercises you can do at home.

Did You Know? Gentle movement can be part of the solution for back pain.
When your back hurts, it’s common to worry that movement might make things worse. Many people instinctively rest more and avoid activities they enjoy.
However, for many types of back pain, staying gently active can help reduce stiffness, improve confidence and support your recovery.
Your back is designed to move! And small amounts of movement throughout the day can make a big difference. πŸ’™
Some simple ways to keep moving include:
🚢 Going for a gentle walk
Even a short walk can help loosen up your back and keep your body active.
🧘 Trying gentle stretches
Simple movements like a child’s pose, knee-to-chest stretch or gentle rotations can help improve mobility.
πŸ”„ Changing positions regularly
Avoid staying in one position for too long β€” stand up, move around and give your body a chance to reset.
πŸ’ͺ Building strength gradually
The right exercises can help support your spine and make everyday activities easier.
Remember: movement doesn’t mean pushing through pain. It’s about finding the right movements, at the right level, for your body.
Physiotherapy can help you:
βœ” Understand what may be contributing to your back pain
βœ” Find exercises that suit your goals
βœ” Build strength and confidence with movement
βœ” Return to the activities you enjoy
What’s one movement or activity you find harder when your back is sore? Let us know below πŸ‘‡

🧘 Stretch of the Week: Latissimus (Lats) Stretch
Tight latissimus muscles can contribute to stiffness through your upper back and sides of your torso, making overhead movements and maintaining good posture more difficult.
This week's stretch, demonstrated by our Physiotherapist Hideki, is a simple way to improve flexibility through your upper body and support better everyday movement.
Regular stretching may help:
βœ” Improve overhead mobility
βœ” Reduce upper body stiffness
βœ” Support better posture
βœ” Make reaching and lifting more comfortable
Give it a try and let us know how it feels!
Looking for more stretches? Browse our page for our Stretch of the Week series, featuring simple exercises you can do at home.
If tight muscles or upper back discomfort are becoming a regular problem, our physiotherapists are here to help identify the cause and create a personalised treatment plan.

πŸ’™One of the best parts of being a local clinic is getting out into the community!

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to chat with Daniel and Hideki during our free movement and injury screening session at Club Lime Forrestdale on Thursday.

It was wonderful meeting so many members, discussing movement, injuries and training goals, and helping people better understand their bodies.
A huge thank you to the Club Lime team for having us as part of your 1st Birthday celebrations. We look forward to many more opportunities to work together and support our local community.

πŸ₯³ Happy 1st Birthday, Club Lime Forrestdale!

🧠 Understand Your Pain & Reclaim Your Life
Did you know that around 3.4 million Australians live with chronic pain?
Persistent pain can affect far more than just your body. It can influence your sleep, mood, confidence, work, relationships and the activities you enjoy.
Join our Senior Physiotherapist, Shushana, for a free community workshop exploring the science behind pain and practical ways to manage it more effectively.

This workshop is especially relevant for people living with persistent pain, but the information can be valuable for anyone wanting to better understand how pain works.
Ask yourself: How much of your day is controlled by pain, and what is one small change you could make this week?

🧘 Stretch of the Week: Child's Pose
Feeling tight or stiff after a long day?
This week's stretch, demonstrated by our Senior Physiotherapist Shushana, is a gentle way to help release tension through the lower back and hips while encouraging relaxation.
Child's Pose may help:
βœ” Ease lower back tension
βœ” Improve flexibility through the hips
βœ” Reduce stiffness after sitting or standing for long periods
βœ” Promote relaxation and gentle movement
Take a few slow breaths as you hold the stretch and only move within a comfortable range.
Looking for more simple stretches? Visit our page to explore our Stretch of the Week series, featuring easy exercises you can do at home.
If you're experiencing ongoing back pain or stiffness, our physiotherapists can assess the underlying cause and develop a personalised treatment plan to help you move with confidence.

πŸŽ„ Celebrating Community Connections at Christmas in July!
Our Gosnells Physiotherapy team recently enjoyed a wonderful Christmas in July lunch hosted by Streams of Living Water Inc. SOLW Support.
It was a lovely opportunity to connect, share a meal and celebrate the strong community relationships that help make Gosnells such a supportive place to live and work.
We are proud to be working alongside SOLW, supporting their local NDIS community. Some of their residents are already attending our clinic for physiotherapy, and from August we’ll be introducing monthly group exercise classes for residents, as well as a separate exercise program for SOLW staff.
We look forward to continuing this partnership and supporting movement, health and wellbeing within our local community. πŸ’™
A big thank you to the SOLW team for hosting such a warm and welcoming Christmas in July celebration!

πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ Keep Performing All Season Long
Whether you're playing football, netball, hockey, running or simply staying active this winter, taking care of your body can help keep you doing the activities you love.
Here are a few simple ways to help reduce your risk of injury:
βœ” Warm up properly before training and games
βœ” Increase your training load gradually, especially after time off
βœ” Prioritise strength and mobility as part of your weekly routine
βœ” Listen to your bodyβ€”don't ignore those small aches and niggles
βœ” Allow time for recovery with good sleep, hydration and rest
Remember, many injuries don't happen overnightβ€”they often develop gradually. Addressing discomfort early can help prevent a small problem from becoming a bigger one.
If you're dealing with ongoing pain, recovering from an injury, or want advice on preventing injuries this season, our physiotherapists are here to help.
