June is Bowel Cancer Awareness Month and we would like to help raise awareness around Bowel Cancer - the second most deadliest type of cancer in Australia.

It claims the lives of approximately 5200 people every year but can be treated if detected early.

The risk increases with age and people between the age of 50 to 74 are at a higher risk.

We now have Sheng from Apex Physiotherapy here at Gosnells!

Sheng is passionate about helping you achieve your personal goals and we are committed to providing excellence in assessment and diagnosis for the treatment and prevention of your injury.

Sheng is passionate about all things sport and rehabilitation. After graduating from Curtin University with a Bachelor in Physiotherapy, Sheng has worked with the geriatric population which has given him experience with complex medical conditions. He has also undergone dry needling training as part of his professional development.

Apart from his passion in Ultimate Frisbee, gym lifting and running, Sheng is also involved in sports training in AFL, soccer and rugby. He is currently the head trainer for Kenwick Football Club, which he takes pride in being able to provide advice in injury prevention and rehabilitation to all the athletes.

Sheng always strives to provide appropriate, evidence-based treatment with a friendly and professional attitude. Along with a comprehensive assessment and holistic management plan, Sheng aims to empower his clients with education about their condition/s and encourages his clients to have an active role in achieving their goals.

Use repellents and wear long pants and long-sleeved tops.

Mild and local reactions to a mosquito bite include:

👉 Redness
👉 Swelling
👉 Burning pain
👉 Itching

Treat the affected area by:

👉 Applying an ice pack
👉 Cleaning it with water
👉 Taking a painkiller or antihistamine if need be

Pertussis or whooping cough is a highly serious infection of the lungs caused by bacteria.

Some common symptoms include:

😷 Sore throat
😷 Running nose or blocked nose
😷 Sneezing
😷 Dry cough
😷 Bit of a temperature
😷 Watery eyes

It is mainly very serious in babies under the age of 12 months.

Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is a common condition that affects 1 in 10 women and girls.
