Saw these in a Chemist today!! Just no, no, no!! There is no scientific literature recommending these are suitable for removing ear wax! They do not work and are very dangerous, which could lead to a perforation in your ear drum through a hot piece of wax. The Egyptians didn’t get everything right!

It is important to remember that a hearing aid is exactly that—an aid designed to assist with hearing loss. While the vast majority of individuals experience substantial benefits from using these devices, early intervention is key. Delaying treatment can inadvertently create communication barriers, often leading to frustration for both you and your loved ones. Furthermore, postponing care until advanced age increases the likelihood that other health conditions (comorbidities) may arise, which can complicate the process of adapting to new devices and shift focus away from your hearing health. Ok ‘Hear Now Australia’! Listen up!
If you are WorkCover accredited, as you say you are on your website, why are you sending out hearing aids ‘IN THE POST’ without Real Ear Measurements (REMS), not even doing the proper ‘accredited procedures’, including follow ups! This is a scam and has been going on for too long!!Please be aware of letters suddenly appearing in your letter box regarding ‘Industrial Hearing Compensation’ personally addressed with your name on it! Your postal addresses are ‘purchased’ for different areas and is why you have been contacted.
The photo below shows a set of hearing aids sent ‘in the post’ with domes on them for a severe to profound hearing loss!! The patient requires traditional hard/soft ear moulds, which are custom made to help with this type of hearing loss! You can’t do this if you never see the patient in person!! Domes are useless, as if they were fitted/prescribed correctly using REMS, they would produce feedback or ‘whistleling’.
Absolutely fed up with this ‘profiteering’ behaviour in Australia’s hearing health care and nobody’s doing anything to stop them.

Your doctor checks your cholesterol every year. But never asks about the #1 modifiable dementia risk factor.
Hearing loss.

It accounts for 8% of all dementia cases. More than diabetes. More than smoking.

New study published 6 days ago: Hearing aids reduce dementia risk by 61% in people under 70.

61%.

No drug comes close to that effect size.

Yet less than 20% of people who need hearing aids use them.

Here's why hearing loss could be a cause of dementia:

1. Your brain works overtime decoding unclear sounds
↳ Diverts resources from memory and thinking
↳ Leads to cognitive exhaustion
↳ Accelerates mental decline

2. Social isolation doubles dementia risk
↳ Can't hear conversations, so you avoid them
↳ Stop going to restaurants, parties, gatherings
↳ Loneliness damages the brain

3. Auditory cortex shrinks when not used
↳ "Use it or lose it" applies to hearing
↳ Brain regions atrophy without stimulation
↳ Cognitive reserve decreases

The research is clear:

ACHIEVE trial (2023): Hearing aids slowed cognitive decline by 48% over 3 years in adults 70-84.

Framingham Heart Study (2026): People under 70 with hearing aids had 61% lower dementia risk over 20 years.

Earlier intervention = bigger benefit.

Signs you might have hearing loss:

Asking people to repeat themselves
Trouble following conversations in noisy places
Turning TV volume up
Missing parts of conversations
Family members saying "You're not listening"
Avoiding social situations

If you're over 50 and notice any of these: Get tested.
