🎾 Tennis Ball Toss Challenge! 🎾

One of our favourite hand-eye coordination activities is the simple tennis ball toss. Children start by throwing a tennis ball from one hand and catching it with the other. As they improve, we can add different challenges to keep it fun and engaging!

Why do we love hand-eye coordination activities?

🌟 Benefits include:
✅ Improving reaction time
✅ Developing coordination between the eyes and hands
✅ Enhancing concentration and focus
✅ Building confidence in movement skills
✅ Supporting sports and playground activities
✅ Improving timing and body awareness
✅ Encouraging the use of both sides of the body
✅ Developing motor planning and control

Hand-eye coordination is an important skill that helps children with everyday activities, sports participation, school tasks, and building confidence in their physical abilities.

The best part? Kids are having so much fun they don't even realise how many skills they are developing at the same time!

🎯 How many catches can your child do without dropping the ball?

Ever noticed your child crashing into things, using too much or too little force or constantly seeking movement? They may be struggling with proprioception.

A paediatric exercise physiologist can support proprioception through fun, movement-based activities that help improve:

Body awareness

Coordination and balance

Focus and attention

Confidence in everyday tasks

Through activities like heavy work, obstacle courses, climbing, jumping and strength exercises, children can learn how to better understanding and control their bodies in space.

🎯 Bean Bag Balance Challenge! 🎯

One of our favourite activities at Coordinated Kidz is getting children to walk with a bean bag balanced on their head. It might look simple, but this fun challenge is working on so many important skills!

🌟 Benefits include:
✅ Improving posture and body awareness
✅ Developing balance and coordination
✅ Strengthening core muscles
✅ Enhancing focus and concentration
✅ Encouraging controlled and purposeful movement
✅ Building confidence as children master new skills

The challenge can be made easier or harder depending on each child's ability, making it a fantastic activity for children of all ages and skill levels.

We love finding creative ways to help our little people develop important movement skills while having fun. Sometimes the simplest activities can make the biggest difference!

Have you tried the bean bag balance challenge at home? Let us know how your child goes! 👏😊

🏃‍♀️Signs Your Child May Need An Exercise Physiologist

If your child avoids movement, struggles to keep up physically, or finds sport and coordination more challenging than their peers, they may benefit from support from an Exercise Physiologist.

Early support can help build confidence, strength, coordination, and a more positive relationship with movement 🌟

🌟 Helping Little Movers Reach Big Milestones 🌟

At Coordinated Kidz, we love seeing our little people grow, learn, and achieve new movement skills. Every child is unique, which is why we use a variety of evidence-based approaches to support their development. One of the tools we use is Dynamic Movement Intervention (DMI) Therapy.

DMI is designed to help children improve their strength, balance, coordination, and motor skills through targeted movement activities that encourage active participation and problem-solving.

Some of the benefits of DMI Therapy include:

✅ Improved head, trunk, and postural control
✅ Increased strength and muscle activation
✅ Enhanced balance and coordination
✅ Better motor planning and movement confidence
✅ Improved functional skills such as sitting, standing, and walking
✅ Encourages independence and participation in everyday activities
✅ Supports the development of age-appropriate movement patterns

There is nothing better than celebrating the small wins that lead to big achievements. Whether it's taking a first step, improving balance, or building confidence in movement, we love being part of each child's journey.

For kids with EDS or Hypermobility Spectrum Disorders (HSD), exercise isn’t about pushing harder—it’s about moving smarter.

The right kind of exercise can help:

🏃‍♀️ Build muscle strength to support joints
🧠 Improve body awareness and coordination
⚖️ Enhance balance and stability
💪 Reduce pain and risk of injury
😊 Boost confidence in movement

Not all exercise is equal—programs should be:

✔️ Individualised
✔️ Gradual and progressive
✔️ Focused on control, not just flexibility
✔️ Fun and engaging for kids

With the right guidance, kids with EDS and HSD can be active—and thrive doing it 💛

For many kids, these conditions aren’t just about being “flexible.” They can come with challenges like:

✨ Joint pain and instability

✨ Fatigue

✨ Poor coordination

✨ Frequent injuries

Because many symptoms are “invisible,” kids with EDS are sometimes misunderstood or told they’re just “double-jointed” or “growing out of it”—but their experiences are real and valid.

Early support can make a big difference in helping kids feel strong, capable, and confident in their bodies 💛. Reach out to Coordinated Kidz if you need assistance with your child.

We are absolutely loving our new Coordinated Kidz space! 🎉

Having a dedicated area just for our kids has been amazing. The space allows our CK legends to feel comfortable, have fun, and fully enjoy their sessions while building confidence, strength, coordination, and movement skills.

One of the best parts is that the new space opens up into our original area, giving us double the room when we need it! 🙌 This means more space for obstacle courses, movement games, strength work, and group activities.

As our kids grow and develop their skills, they also have access to our brand new gym area if they are ready to progress into supervised weight training and more advanced strength work. 💪

It has been incredible seeing the kids settle into the new area already, and we are so excited for all the opportunities this space will create for our Coordinated Kidz families.
