🔍 Exploring Knee Osteoarthritis: Understanding & Relief 🌟💡

Knee osteoarthritis — it's a complex, but unfortunately common condition affecting the knee joint's cartilage and underlying bone.

The knee joint's anatomy is intricate, with cartilage cushioning the bones, allowing smooth movement. Osteoarthritis develops when this cartilage deteriorates, leading to stiffness, pain, and reduced mobility.

Causes vary, from age-related wear and tear to injuries or genetic factors. But fret not! The dedicated physiotherapists at Next Generation Physiotherapy are here to assist.

Treatment options tailored by our experts might include:

🏃🏿♂️ Exercise Programs: Targeted exercises to strengthen muscles around the knee, enhancing joint stability and reducing pain.

🩹 Manual Therapy: Hands-on techniques aimed at improving joint mobility and reducing stiffness.

🧘🏻‍♂️ Lifestyle Modifications: Guidance on lifestyle changes and assistive devices to reduce strain on the knee joint.

Our physiotherapists are equipped with personalised plans to alleviate knee osteoarthritis discomfort, aiming for improved function and better quality of life.

Call us on 9203 7771 to schedule an appointment. Let's embark on a journey towards better knee health together!

🩸 Yep - the average adult carries five litres of blood in their body. Of course, this varies depending on an individual's size and body composition. Larger people tend to have more blood than smaller people. Meanwhile individuals with higher muscle mass often have a slightly higher blood volume compared to those with lower muscle mass. 💪 Muscles have a higher blood perfusion rate, necessitating a slightly increased blood volume to meet the metabolic demands of the muscle tissue. And dehydration has a negative effect on your blood supply since blood is mostly water after all.

Our incredible blood serves multiple roles, transporting essential nutrients, oxygen, hormones, and waste products throughout the body. It regulates body temperature, fights infections through white blood cells, and aids in clotting to prevent excessive bleeding.

Blood is composed of various elements: red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets, and plasma. Each component plays a crucial role in maintaining our health and well-being.

Despite its significance, our bodies can sustainably lose some blood without major complications. Generally, healthy adults can lose up to 10-15% of their blood volume before experiencing severe effects. However, rapid and significant blood loss requires immediate medical attention.

It’s more than just an inspiring statement! 💡

Studies show that merely visualising a physical activity can activate the same neural pathways and muscle groups as actually doing it. It's like a backstage dance rehearsal for your muscles, ready to perform when called upon. 🩰
So believing you can do something, and then envisioning yourself doing it really can help you to do it.

Would you be able to fly if dreamt about often enough – Okay no. BUT you may find the muscles of your upper back get stronger getting you ready for hang-gliding if you really want to experience flight. (Creative problem-solving is all part of the belief process too.)

So, when your mind believes in your goals and envisions success, your body follows suit. Your dreams are the choreography, your determination, the rhythm. Keep believing, and watch your body achieve remarkable things! 🌟🕺 And if injuries or aches are standing in your way call us on 9203 7771 to make an appointment. The physios at Next Generation Physiotherapy can help with that problem-solving to get you closer to your goals.

⚡ Wake Up Refreshed! Hydration Holds the Key! 💧

Ever wake up feeling super tired? Feeling good might just be a glass of water away! Hydration isn't just about quenching thirst; it plays a crucial role in your body's energy levels and overall well-being. This is a simple problem with a simple solution - reach for some water today.

Water transports nutrients, regulates temperature, and aids in metabolic processes. When you're dehydrated, your body works harder to perform these functions, leaving you feeling fatigued and drained.

Remember, make sipping on water a habit throughout the day to maintain optimal hydration levels. Let's wake up refreshed and energised! 💦🌞

📚 "Word of the Day: Meniscus" 🦵📖

The meniscus, a crucial structure in the knee, acts as a cushion between the thigh bone and the shinbone, aiding in stability and load distribution. These C-shaped wedges of cartilage play a pivotal role in absorbing shock and ensuring smooth joint movement.
However, when the meniscus undergoes injury, it can lead to pain, swelling, and restricted knee mobility. Tears or damage often occur due to sudden twisting or impact during sports or activities.

This is when you need the care of the physiotherapists at Next Generation Physiotherapy. Through tailored exercises and therapies, we can aid in meniscus rehabilitation, focusing on strengthening surrounding muscles, improving joint mobility, and guiding a safe return to regular activities.

If you have any concerns regarding your meniscus health, give us a call on 9203 7771 to schedule an appointment for tailored guidance and support. We are here to help.

It’s very easy to overindulge at this time of year. So, it might seem a little strange that we’re suggesting more food!!! But there is method behind our madness, trust us. Starting the day with something healthy means that you’ve got a great dose of vitamins, and by doing so, makes you less likely to unconsciously graze on less healthy treats as the day goes on. 🥤 🎄

And it can still be festive for the holidays!

Why not try a…
