Myth Buster Monday! 😼 💥

Myth: You need expensive foundation to make your skin look its best.

Bust: If you have thick, smooth and firm skin and use a cost-effective dewy finish foundation like Maybelline Fit Me, it should glide over your canvas beautifully and help to bring out the best in your skin and features.

The more fine lines, hollows, uneven tone and sag that is present, the more makeup highlights these issues. This causes you to have to use silicone-based primers and foundations that can cost up to $150 or more. They contain skin-smoothing and filling properties like silicone to work to disguise issues that you should be spending money on in a way that will target and treat the underlying issues that are causing your appearance to change. These issues are thinning skin, depleting fat, muscle and bone mass.

Jessicat tells her BeautyCats to overdo the repairing and rebuilding of the skin and muscles to make up for reduced fat within the facial features that occurs as you mature. You can do this by working through an Initial Foundation Package of 4-Stage or 5-Stage Face Lifting treatments and then attending regular treatments every 1–2 months ongoing to build on results in a cost-effective manner.

WHAT DOES MICRODERMABRASION ACTUALLY DO? 💡

Let’s take the mystery out of Microdermabrasion and look at the real science behind it.

The treatment uses a small abrasive disc combined with suction to lift away dead skin cells from the outer surface.
This process creates a mild, controlled micro-trauma. In response, your body initiates a natural healing process, sending a light boost of collagen and elastin to the treated area to repair the skin barrier.
However, because this surface response is relatively minor, Microdermabrasion is not our primary rejuvenation method.

At Jessicat’s Medi-Spa, our wellness philosophy centers on deep-structural repair, long-term skin health, and meaningful cellular turnover. While surface microdermabrasion can offer a quick polish, true, lasting skin wellness requires reaching deeper than just the outer layer of skin.

Look closely at these photos of Jessicat’s forearm and hand on Day 8 after the Microneedling session, you can see some mild, natural peeling happening!

Now, time for a full confession: Jessicat was a bit of a bad cat this week and didn't keep up with properly moisturizing her skin like she was supposed to! When your skin undergoes deep structural treatments, that initial peeling and light flaking are completely normal signs of rapid cellular turnover. But when you skip your post-care hydration, it can lead to unnecessary dryness, tightness, and itching.

Consider this your friendly reminder, Always stick to your post-treatment homework!

Jessicat Medi-Spa clients are able to negate or avoid using Botox and Filler Injectables and have NO for Bioremodelling Injectables & Growth Factors.

THE MYTH:
You need biostimulatory injectables or fillers to grow deep structural collagen in your skin.

THE BUST:
Medical-grade RF/Ultrasound therapies, such as Exilis Ultra 360 and RF-Microneedling (used safely), trigger Types I, III, IV, and VII collagen in the basal (deepest) layer of the epidermis and the papillary layer of the dermis (the outermost layer).

Injectable biostimulators, traditional fillers, and growth factors are heavily marketed for boosting specific collagens: Traditional Fillers & Biostimulators (Sculptra, Radiesse, Rejuran): Build Types I & III collagen for dermal firmness, volume, and elasticity.
Bioremodelling Injectables & Growth Factors (Profhilo): Marketed to go beyond standard fillers to stimulate Types IV & VII collagen, creating anchoring ropes at the dermal-epidermal junction that lock the surface skin to the deep dermis to prevent sagging.

LIVE MICRONEEDLING JOURNEY | DAY 2 HEALING

On Sunday, 19 July 2026, Jessicat performed a LIVE Microneedling treatment on her own hand to demonstrate the exact procedure and document the real healing process!

This photo is captured on Tuesday, 21 July 2026 at 8:00 AM which is day 2 of the healing process. Initial redness and recovery are a completely normal part of the skin’s natural repair response, and individual healing times always vary.

Due to a technical glitch on the day, we had to stream the full treatment session directly on our public page. We have since taken it down, the full raw version is accessible for the BeautyCats on our private group and our team is currently editing the footage into a clean recap video that will be used as an ongoing resource!
