Did you know you can have minor procedures done right here at your local GP clinic? 🩺

No hospital visit, no specialist waitlist for many common concerns. Our doctors perform a range of minor surgeries and procedures on site, including skin lesion and mole removal, biopsies, wound care and suturing, cryotherapy for warts and sun spots, and ingrown toenail treatment.

Everything happens in our own treatment room, with your own GP, close to home. If something needs a closer look first, we will always start with a proper assessment and talk you through your options in plain English.

Swipe through to see what we can take care of for you.

Got a spot, lump or ni**le you have been ignoring? That is your sign. Book online or call 07 3465 0660.

Queensland has one of the highest melanoma rates in Australia. And too many people treat sun damage like it is “just a burn”.

Here are the numbers Queenslanders need to see:
🔥 Queensland has the highest melanoma incidence in the country
🔥 Almost 1 in 2 Queensland adults (45%) reported being sunburnt in the last 12 months
🔥 47% of Queensland kids were sunburnt in the last 12 months
🔥 In 2025, Australia saw around 17,000 new melanoma cases and 1,500 deaths
🔥 Research suggests around 1.5 million skin-cancer procedures every year in Queenslanders aged 40-69

Why this matters:
Skin cancer can sometimes be detected early by noticing changes on your skin, then getting them assessed.

What to watch for:
⚠️ A new spot that is growing fast
⚠️ A mole changing shape, colour, or border
⚠️ A sore that will not heal
⚠️ A spot that bleeds, crusts, itches, or keeps coming back
⚠️ Any “odd one out” spot that looks different to the rest

Book a skin check at Griffin Medical Centre:
Dr Wes (Wednesdays) or Dr Surendar (Thursdays)
Call (07) 3465 0660 or book online: https://www.hotdoc.com.au/medical-centres/griffin-QLD-4503/griffin-medical-centre/doctors

We bulk bill skin checks for eligible Medicare card holders.
Early detection can make treatment simpler. If you’re concerned about a spot, it is worth getting checked.

Today is Daffodil Day, Cancer Council's much-loved campaign that funds life-saving cancer research. 🌼

Nearly 1 in 2 Australians will be diagnosed with cancer by age 85, which means almost every family in our community has been touched by it in some way. Daffodil Day is a chance to stand together, give hope and back the research that keeps improving survival rates year after year.

Our part in the picture is early detection. Many cancers, including skin and bowel cancers, are far more treatable when they are found early. If you have a spot that has changed, a symptom that will not settle, or you are simply overdue for a check, that is reason enough to book.

Wear a splash of yellow tomorrow, donate if you can at daffodilday.com.au, and be proactive with your own health this month.

Book a check-up online or call 07 3465 0660.

DVA Gold Card or eligible White Card holder? You may be able to access extra GP care coordination support.

At Griffin Medical Centre, Dr Surendar Advani can discuss the DVA Coordinated Veterans’ Care (CVC) Program with eligible veterans.

What CVC is:
A DVA-supported program designed to help eligible veterans with ongoing or complex health needs through more structured care planning, coordination, and regular reviews with your GP and our on-site practice nurse.

This may be relevant if you:
➡️Have a DVA Gold Card, and managing one or more ongoing health conditions has become complex, or
➡️Have a DVA White Card with an accepted mental health condition, and have ongoing care needs, and
➡️Live in the community (not in permanent residential aged care)

Next step:
Please book a Long Appointment (30 minutes) so you can see both the doctor and our practice nurse.

📞Call: (07) 3465 0660 or
🌐Book online (select “Long Appointment”): https://www.hotdoc.com.au/medical-centres/griffin-QLD-4503/griffin-medical-centre/doctors/dr-surendar-kumar-advani-2

This week marked World Hepatitis Day, so here is a quiet but important reminder. 💛

Hepatitis B and C can sit in the background for years without any symptoms, slowly affecting the liver. The reassuring part is that a simple blood test can find them, and treatment today is very effective. Hepatitis C can even be cured.

Here is the catch: a standard blood test does not automatically check for hepatitis, so it is worth asking your GP directly, especially if you have never been tested.

It is a five-minute conversation that is well worth having. Book online or call 07 3465 0660.

Winter, school holidays, work, the never-ending to-do list. If you have been feeling stretched lately, you are not alone.

Stress Down Day is this Friday, so this week is a gentle nudge to check in with yourself. Swipe through for a few signs you might be running on empty, and some small things that genuinely help.

And if the heavy days are starting to stack up, please know that reaching out is a strength, not a weakness. Your GP can sit down with you and put together a Mental Health Treatment Plan, and it is completely confidential.

You do not have to wait until things feel unbearable. Book a longer appointment on 07 3465 0660.

If you need to talk to someone now, Lifeline is there 24/7 on 13 11 14.
