A day in the life of a Musculoskeletal Therapist ✨
I hold a Bachelor in Musculoskeletal Therapy, a Bachelor in Myotherapy, and qualifications in Remedial Massage — so you can rest assured you are in capable hands.
An MST session begins with a discussion around your presenting concern. From the moment you walk through the door, I am naturally assessing posture, movement patterns, muscular imbalances, and the way your body is compensating.
I may ask you to demonstrate how an injury occurred, what movements feel restricted, and how long you have been experiencing the issue. This assessment time is vital in creating a safe and effective treatment plan tailored specifically to your condition and goals.
Clients may present with:
I treat a wide range of people — from school-aged children through to the elderly — and every treatment is adapted to suit the individual in front of me.
Some people are sensitive to touch, so treatment may begin gently over a towel before progressing further. Some clients are preparing for sporting events and require techniques that stimulate and prepare the muscles. Others may require lymphatic or fluid-based work, which is approached very differently again.
No two bodies are the same, and no two treatments are the same.
Today’s clinic day included dry needling, functional cupping, myofascial release, deep tissue massage, joint mobilisation, trigger point therapy, tendon work, relaxation treatments, and muscle energy techniques to improve range of motion.
After 19 years of hands-on therapeutic work, I have become highly attuned to what healthy tissue should feel like — so when something is not quite right, it becomes very noticeable to trained hands (and elbows 😂).
And at the end of the day… the laundry never ends 😅
A huge thank you to the clients who gave permission for photos to be taken during their treatment sessions so this reel could help demonstrate what a day in clinic looks like.
