Enshrined in the Statement of Rights is your right to privacy and confidentiality, but what does this mean?
You have the right to have your information kept confidential, provided you have given consent for it to be shared. They can also access their information at any time without restriction.
As an older person receiving government-funded aged care – either in your own home or in an aged care home – you have rights. The Statement of Rights, which is included in the Act, gives you the right to speak up, to be treated with respect, and to make choices about your aged care. Providers and aged care workers are legally obliged to deliver services in line with these rights.
