We learnt about this app yesterday while renewing our CPR certificates 🤗

Emergency Plus is an important app every Australian should consider downloading. 📱🚨

In an emergency, the app can help you quickly call Triple Zero (000) and provide emergency services with your exact location (within 2 metres from what our trainer explained) using your phone's GPS.

A simple app that could save valuable time when every second counts. ❤️

It makes us incredibly sad to see stories like Sean Dorney’s.

No one should have to wait months for an assessment or reassessment while their care needs continue to grow. Sean is living with Motor Neurone Disease and receives just 12 hours of care a week, yet because he requires two carers at a time, that support only allows for help with basic daily needs a few times each week.

What makes it even harder to understand is that Sean and his wife have already waited eight months for a reassessment for additional funding.

As a support service, we see how important timely, consistent and appropriate care is. Behind every assessment, funding package and waiting list is a real person and a family trying to cope with changing needs and hold onto their independence and dignity.
It breaks our hearts that people can be left waiting when they need support the most. We believe older Australians deserve better. They deserve to receive the right support at the right time—not months later, when they may already be at crisis point.

Sean’s story is a powerful reminder that we still have so much work to do.

💊 Do you or someone you care for struggle to swallow tablets?

Many people think they simply have to "deal with it," but difficulty swallowing medication can often be managed with the right assessment and strategies.

One option that may be appropriate is Gloup, a medication lubricant designed to help tablets and capsules move more comfortably through the throat.

However, it's important to remember that it's not suitable for everyone. If you're experiencing difficulty swallowing medication, a speech pathology assessment can help determine:
✔️ Why swallowing is difficult
✔️ Whether Gloup is appropriate and safe for you
✔️ What other strategies or supports may be more suitable

At New Frontiers Therapy, we regularly assess swallowing difficulties and keep Gloup in stock. If we determine it's appropriate during your assessment, you can take some home straight away to trial.

Within the first hour, the search radius expands greatly. Acting quickly can significantly improve the chances of locating them safely.
