Creatine is everywhere right now.
Is it actually worth the hype?

In terms of ADHD and Dementia, it's the bomb!!

ADHD Women in particular respond well to creatine, with working memory and executive function, especially under mental stress or sleep deprivation - yep, that sounds like mums!

Improvement in working memory is a game changer for those with dementia.
Studies have shown creatine may also play a role in decreasing inflammation and oxidative stress - two big factors accelerating cognitive decline.

Dose matters though!!

This can lead to forgetfulness, poor concentration and low motivation.
Don't forget disorganised and low mood.

It's important to keep the brain healthy.
Perimenopause can be the instigator of poor brain health - so now is a time you need to take note of any factors that can affect the brain long term.

For your brain to function in it's cognitive state, that is, memory, focus and emotional regulation, it needs to be in state of calm.
Your nervous system needs to be in it's rest, parasympathetic state.
Chronic stress often holds us in the sympathetic state - that flight or flight state.

Using the vagus nerve, we can get out of this constant stressed process.

Learn more and practise a few vagus nerve exercises at the upcoming
Return To Calm Workshop at The health Hub, Hastings Point.

Urinary Tract Infections (UTI's) can become very common in women during and after menopause.

This is basically due to a drop in oestrogen levels.
This hormonal change changes the urinary and va**nal environment, making it much easier for harmful bacteria to invade and multiply.

There are many way to help prevent UTI's when low oestrogen is not the problem.

BUT.., when oestrogen loss is the cause, there are only a few ways to help.

One is va**nal oestrogen (localized hormone replacement therapy). Best for those that have chronic infections.

Second is va**nal targeted probiotics and specific antimicrobials to prevent and clear bacteria overgrowth.

There are other treatments that can prevent bacteria sticking to the walls of the va**na, as well as improving the pelvic floor to ensure complete emptying of the bladder.

UTI's can be deadly if left untreated.

Your brain cleans itself when you sleep.
This only occurs in deep sleep.

If you do not get into deep sleep stage, you may not be cleaning your brain.
These wastes that are not removed, are thought to be just one possible cause of dementia and alzheimer's.

After 50, the ability of your brain to remove wastes drops by 75%.
Why?
Because, as you age, your deep sleep state decreases.

So now what?

Some studies suggest Binaural Beats listening to binaural beats (2 different frequencies at once) can
improve your ability to fall asleep.

Listening to this form of sound can take you to deep sleep.

The studies suggest listening to binaural beats at delta frequencies (around 2-8 Hz) can help you sleep better and reach deep, delta sleep.

Search Binaural Beats on Spotify.
