Equine and Animal Assisted Therapy helping cancer patients and their families!!
Hospital treatment can be emotionally and physically overwhelming for children and their caregivers.
Research published in PLOS ONE found that children receiving animal-assisted therapy during outpatient cancer treatment experienced:
💙 Reduced pain
💙 Less stress
💙 Reduced irritation
💙 Improvements in depressive symptoms
The benefits extended beyond the child.
Caregivers also reported reductions in:
• Anxiety
• Mental confusion
• Emotional tension
These findings remind us that healing occurs within relationships, and supporting families is an important part of compassionate healthcare.
At the Equine & Animal Psychotherapy Institute, we advocate for evidence-informed, ethical and welfare-focused approaches that benefit both humans and animals.
