At first glance, this doesn’t seem possible...

Using a glass bottle, Dr Craig demonstrates how a Keller funnel is used to assist with implant insertion during breast augmentation surgery.

The bottle has no stretch, making it a simple way to visualise how an implant can pass through a relatively small opening only 2-3cm wide.

💡 The Keller funnel is designed to help minimise direct handling of the implant during insertion.
💡 Surgical techniques vary depending on the patient’s anatomy and treatment plan.

Save this for later if you’ve ever wondered how implants are inserted during surgery!

Bilateral breast reduction

A total of 792g removed from the left breast and 897g removed from the right breast. These images show before and after results at 4 months post-op.

At this stage, swelling has mostly settled and scars will continue to mature over time. Final results can take up to 12 months and will vary for each individual.

What actually happens if a breast implant ruptures?

In this demonstration, Mentor and Motiva breast implants are cut to observe how the implant shell and gel behave when pressure is applied.

If a breast implant shell ruptures, the way the silicone gel responds can vary depending on the implant design and gel cohesiveness. In this demonstration, the Motiva implant gel appears to remain more cohesive and hold together more closely after the shell is cut, while the Mentor implant behaves differently under the same conditions.

Demonstrations like this may help illustrate some of the differences in implant technology and gel characteristics between manufacturers.

Based on Dr Craigs clinical experience and assessment of available implant options, he currently chooses to use Motiva implants in his practice.

During your consultation, implant options, risks, benefits, and individual considerations will be discussed to help determine what may be appropriate for your anatomy and surgical goals.

Ever wondered what happens to your abdominal muscles during pregnancy? 🤍

In this reel, we’ve used a balloon demonstration to show how the abdominal muscles may gradually separate as the baby grows — a condition known as abdominal muscle separation or diastasis recti.

As pressure on the abdominal wall increases:
• Early pregnancy: the muscles remain closer together
• Second trimester: stretching may begin
• Third trimester: the separation can become more noticeable

For some women, this separation improves naturally after pregnancy. For others, the muscles may remain separated, which can contribute to symptoms like core weakness, abdominal bulging, reduced support, or lower back discomfort.

When muscle separation does not improve with time or exercise alone, an abdominoplasty may be considered. During an abdominoplasty, Dr Craig repairs the separated abdominal muscles as part of the procedure, helping restore abdominal support and contour.

Surgery is complex, and no procedure comes with guaranteed outcomes. Even in experienced hands, unexpected healing, complications, or less-than-perfect results can occur.

What often matters most is how a surgeon and their team respond when challenges arise. Open communication, appropriate follow-up care, transparency and ongoing patient support all play an important role throughout the surgical journey.

When researching surgery, it’s important to look beyond before & after photos and consider factors such as qualifications, communication style, post-operative care and whether you feel informed and supported throughout the process.

If you are considering surgery, booking a consultation with Dr Craig Rubinstein can help you better understand your options, recovery and what personalised surgical care may involve.
