Movement Chiro

Movement Chiro At Movement Chiro, Dr Jess blends hands on care with movement-based rehab to improve strength, mobility, posture and overall function.

Patients often notice not only less pain but also better sleep, reduced stress and a greater sense of wellbeing. At Movement Chiro, we're dedicated to providing personalised, evidence-based chiropractic care to help you move better and live a healthier, more active life. Led by Dr Jessica Crisp, we focus on addressing the root causes of pain and discomfort, whether it's back pain, neck pain, heada

che/migraine or sports related injuries. Dr Jess emphasises the neuromuscular benefits of chiropractic care by targeting joint function, muscle activation and improved brain-body communication (proprioception). By enhancing proprioception - the body's ability to sense its position in space - she helps patients develop better balance, coordination and motor control which gives your body optimal conditions to heal, recover and perform at it's peak. Whether you're recovering from an injury, managing chronic pain, or looking to enhance your athletic performance, Movement Chiro is here to provide a holistic approach that empowers you to move and feel your best. Let's get you moving again! Call or text 0430 030 521 to book an appointment.

A small update from Movement Chiro šŸ’œ

From 1 July 2026, consultation fees will increase by approximately 4%, reflecting the rising cost of inflation and allowing me to continue providing the high standard of care you expect.

One thing that isn’t changing is my commitment to making it easier for people to begin care. Our initial consultation will remain at $150 ($135 concession) because I believe cost shouldn’t be a barrier to getting the assessment and guidance you need.

Your health and wellbeing are important to me. If you’re experiencing financial difficulty, please reach out to me. I’ll always do my best to find an arrangement that works for you.

Thank you for your continued trust and support. It truly means a great deal to me to be part of your healthcare journey.

Jess

Men’s Health Week PSA:

Two in three Australian men wait too long to see someone when something changes.

Men, if something has changed physically, mentally, emotionally, or you just don’t feel quite right, don’t ignore it.

A conversation with your GP is often the best place to start. Getting things checked early is one of the smartest things you can do for yourself and the people who rely on you.

And if the issue is clearly musculoskeletal eg; back pain, neck pain, headaches or a sporting injury, reaching out to Dr Jess at Movement Chiro can be another great step.

This Men’s Health Week, make yourself a priority.

Your health matters.

Check your health fund to find out when your annual limit resets; some reset at end of financial year, some at the end of the calendar year, some on your policy anniversary date.

Movement Chiro has availability over the next few weeks so if yours resets at the end of the financial year, make the most of your remaining cover and book an appointment on 0430 030 521 šŸ’Ŗ

Desk workers! Quick test.

Turn your head left.
Now turn it right.

Did one side feel noticeably stiffer?

You’re not broken, but it’s often an early sign that your body is adapting to long hours at a desk, driving, or looking at your phone.

The sooner you address little issues, the less likely they are to become bigger ones.

A few Saturday appointments are available this week.
Book in before they disappear.

šŸŽ¾The Sale Tennis Tournament reminded me of two things:

1. Muscle memory is real.
2. Fitness is definitely use-it-or-lose-it.

Despite having little opportunity to play tennis over the past year, the shots came back surprisingly quickly. The conditioning, however, did not.

After 8 sets for the weekend, I was sore in places I didn’t know could get sore and spent a few days being reminded that tennis is a full body sport. šŸ˜…

As a chiropractor, I often see people frustrated that their body can’t do what it used to. The reality is that our brains can remember neural pathways for a long time, but our muscles, tendons and cardiovascular fitness need regular exposure to the demands we place on them.

One of the things I love about chiropractic care is helping people prepare for the activities they enjoy—whether that’s tennis, golf, running, gym, gardening, or simply keeping up with the kids or grandkids. Better movement, strength, balance and body awareness can make it easier to stay active and reduce the likelihood of your body protesting afterwards.

I got away with jumping in the deep end this time, but it was a good reminder that preparation still matters.

Thanks to the organisers, volunteers and fellow competitors for a great weekend of tennis and community spirit. šŸŽ¾šŸ˜Š

Your central executive network (CEN) is your ā€œthinkingā€ brain. It handles focused attention, problem solving, decision making and goal-directed behaviour.

Your salience network (SN) is your ā€œsurvivalā€ brain. It helps you notice what is important, new or emotionally relevant — like hearing a fire alarm or sensing danger. It also helps switch between your thinking brain and your default mode network (DMN), integrating sensory, emotional and cognitive information.

Your default mode network is active when your mind is wandering, reflecting or focused inward. It is deeply connected to your self-narrative — the internal story you tell yourself about who you are and how you experience life.

In people with chronic pain, anxiety and depression, this network can become stuck in maladaptive neuroplastic changes — negative patterns of rumination, catastrophising and stress where pain and emotional distress become closely tied to a person’s identity and everyday experience.

Research is now showing that chiropractic care may help influence these brain networks. Studies have found measurable changes in brain function after chiropractic adjustments, alongside improvements in pain, anxiety, depression, brain fog, sleep and overall quality of life. By improving the way the brain processes information from the body, chiropractic care may support healthier neuroplasticity, helping people not only feel better physically, but also shift unhelpful patterns and experience life differently.

Chiropractic adjustments stretch and stimulate your deep spinal stabiliser muscles; this sends a huge burst of important sensory information to your brain. This allows your brain to ā€œupdateā€ or refine its map of the body.

This leads to better awareness of spinal motion but also more accurate joint position sense in your ARMS and LEGS!

Your brain can only control what it can accurately sense.
Improving spinal movement helps improve the quality of information your brain receives, and that can change the way your whole body functions.

Better map =
āœ… Less pain
āœ… Stronger muscles
āœ… Less tightness
āœ… Better movement (more controlled, more stable)
āœ… Improved coordination
āœ… Fewer injuries
āœ… Natural Performance Enhancement

If your body feels tight, stiff, sore, unstable, weak or ā€œnot quite right,ā€ it may not just be a muscle problem; it could be the way your brain is processing movement.

Most people wait until their back flares up to do something about it…

(fair enough, we’ve all done it šŸ˜…)

But what if the goal wasn’t just getting out of pain…
What if it was also staying out of it?

Research shows that people who opt for regular maintenance care have 12.8 fewer days of back pain per year compared to those who only come in when it hurts.

That’s nearly 2 extra weeks of doing the things you love.

For me, that’s this šŸ‘†

Running around with my kids, feeling strong, moving well… and avoiding as many ā€œMum can’t, she’s soreā€ moments as possible šŸ˜…

Care shouldn’t just be about fixing problems.
It should be about keeping you living your life.

Consistency > crisis care.

🐣🌿 Belated Happy Easter everyone! 🌿🐣

Did anyone else get absolutely destroyed by Daylight Savings and Easter landing at the same time… or just me? šŸ˜“šŸ«

That shift in sleep (and early rising kids that don’t understand what a ā€œsleep inā€ is) plus a busy long weekend can be enough to throw your system off — think headaches, neck tension, low energy, and just not feeling quite right.

Your body loves consistency, and even small changes to sleep can impact how you move and feel day-to-day.

If you’re noticing headaches or feeling a bit off this week, it might be time for a reset. We’re here to help you get things moving (and sleeping) better again.
