Menstrual Hygiene Day 🩸🤍
Because periods are normal — and access to care, education, and support should be too.

Menstrual health is more than hygiene.
It’s about understanding your body, having access to safe products, and feeling empowered — not ashamed — of your cycle.

✨ Periods are a vital sign of health
✨ Pain, irregularity, or heavy bleeding deserve attention — not dismissal
✨ Everyone deserves access to safe, affordable menstrual care

At Yarra Valley Women’s Health, we believe in open conversations, education, and supporting you to feel confident in your body.

Whether you’re navigating painful periods, cycle changes, or just want to better understand what’s normal — you’re not alone.

Let’s keep breaking the stigma 🤍

National Reconciliation Week 🤍
A time to reflect, learn, and take meaningful steps toward reconciliation.

This week invites all of us to deepen our understanding of Australia’s shared history — and to consider how we can contribute to a more just, respectful, and connected future.

At Yarra Valley Women’s Health, we recognise that health and wellbeing are deeply influenced by culture, connection to Country, and community.

We are committed to:
🤍 Listening and learning from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voices
🤍 Supporting culturally safe and respectful care
🤍 Reflecting on how we show up — as individuals and as a healthcare space

Reconciliation is not a single moment — it’s an ongoing practice of awareness, respect, and action.

🚨 WHY THIS PCOS ➡️PMOS IS GROUNDBREAKING FOR WOMEN’S HEALTH 🚨

For decades, millions of women have lived with a condition called “PCOS” — a name that many experts now say never truly reflected what the condition actually is.

Now, a landmark paper published in The Lancet is changing that.

✨ Researchers are proposing the new name:
Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome (PMOS)

Why is this so important?

Because this paper finally recognises that this condition is:
✔️ not just about ovaries
✔️ not just about fertility
✔️ not just about periods

It’s a WHOLE BODY condition involving:
▫️ hormones
▫️ metabolism
▫️ insulin resistance
▫️ cardiovascular health
▫️ mental health
▫️ inflammation
▫️ reproductive health

This is groundbreaking because it validates what so many women have been saying for years:

💬 “My symptoms are real.”
💬 “This affects every part of my health.”
💬 “I need care beyond reproductive health alone.”

The paper also addresses something deeply important:
⚠️ stigma
⚠️ delayed diagnosis
⚠️ misinformation
⚠️ years of women feeling dismissed

More than 14,000 people worldwide contributed to this global consensus process — making it one of the largest collaborative women’s health naming initiatives ever undertaken.

This is more than a name change.
It’s a shift toward:
✨ better awareness
✨ better education
✨ better research
✨ better healthcare
✨ better outcomes for women globally

Women’s health is evolving — and this paper is part of a much bigger movement toward finally recognising the complexity of female health conditions.

Hyperemesis Gravidarum Awareness Day 🤍
Because severe pregnancy sickness is more than “just nausea”.

Hyperemesis Gravidarum (HG) is a serious condition that can affect every part of a woman’s life — physically, mentally, and emotionally.

It’s not just morning sickness.
It’s persistent, debilitating nausea and vomiting that can lead to dehydration, weight loss, and hospitalisation.

🤍 You are not “just being sensitive”
🤍 You are not expected to push through
🤍 You deserve to be taken seriously and supported

At Yarra Valley Women’s Health, we recognise how exhausting and isolating HG can be.

While medical care is essential, supportive hands-on treatment can help ease some of the physical strain — addressing tension, supporting the nervous system, and helping your body cope during this time.

If you or someone you know is experiencing HG, please know — support is available, and you don’t have to navigate it alone.

Save or share to help raise awareness 🤍

Maternal Mental Health Month 🤍
Because your mind deserves care, too.

Motherhood can be beautiful… and overwhelming, all at once.
And yet so many women feel pressure to “cope”, to “bounce back”, or to hold it all together quietly.

But the truth is — struggling doesn’t make you a bad mum.
It makes you human.

🌿 1 in 5 women experience challenges like anxiety or depression during pregnancy or postpartum
🌿 Mental health is just as important as physical recovery
🌿 You deserve support, not silence

At Yarra Valley Women’s Health, we see the whole picture.
Your body, your nervous system, your emotional wellbeing — all deeply connected.

We’re here to support you through:
• Overwhelm, anxiety & burnout
• Postpartum recovery (beyond the physical)
• Nervous system regulation
• Creating space to slow down and be supported

You don’t have to do this alone.

If this feels like something you needed to hear, save this post or share it with someone who might 🤍

International Bereaved Mother’s Day 🤍
Honouring the mothers who carry both love and loss.

For the mothers who have experienced miscarriage, stillbirth, infant loss, or the loss of a child at any stage — today, and every day, we see you.

🤍 There is no timeline for grief
🤍 There is no “right” way to heal
🤍 There is space for both love and sorrow to exist together

At Yarra Valley Women’s Health, we hold space for the quieter, often unseen parts of women’s health journeys — including loss.

You are not forgotten.
You are not alone.

If this feels close to your heart, you’re welcome to share, save, or simply sit with these words today 🤍

International Day of the Midwife 🤍
Today we celebrate the hands, hearts, and wisdom of midwives — the quiet constants through some of life’s most powerful moments.

Midwives do so much more than deliver babies.
They advocate, educate, reassure, and hold space — through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.

✨ Supporting informed, empowered choices
✨ Providing continuity of care
✨ Holding women with calm, strength, and deep knowledge

At Yarra Valley Women’s Health, we work alongside incredible midwives to support your body through every stage — from preparing for birth to recovering postpartum.

Because when women are supported, birth can be a more grounded, informed, and positive experience.

To all the midwives in our community — thank you for the work you do, every single day 🤍
