Over the past two years, through our funded ๐•๐ข๐ฅ๐ฅ๐š๐ ๐ž ๐‚๐จ๐ง๐ง๐ž๐œ๐ญ and ๐๐ฅ๐š๐ฒ๐ข๐ง๐  ๐ข๐ญ ๐…๐จ๐ซ๐ฐ๐š๐ซ๐ programs, we had the privilege of supporting more than 20 children and their families through Child-Centred Play Therapy (CCPT) and Child-Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT).

Many of these children had experienced domestic and family violence, trauma, significant adversity, or severe emotional dysregulation. Not every family was able to complete the programs due to changing circumstances; however, the findings below reflect the measurable outcomes of those who did.

When our programs concluded, we measured the outcomes.

๐Ÿ’™ ๐‡๐ž๐ซ๐ž'๐ฌ ๐ฐ๐ก๐š๐ญ ๐ฐ๐ž ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ฎ๐ง๐... ๐Ÿ‘‡

๐Ÿ”นEvery child who completed, or near completed, the program demonstrated positive change within their therapeutic play sessions.
๐Ÿ”นParents and caregivers who actively participated reported stronger relationships with their child and increased confidence in supporting their child's emotional needs.
๐Ÿ”นAlthough not every family returned their post-program questionnaires, every completed outcome measure demonstrated positive change, with some families reporting significant improvements and others more gradual progress.

๐Ÿ’” But perhaps the most powerful finding wasn't simply that children improved...

Many children were still making meaningful progress when their funded therapy came to an end.

Healing doesn't happen because funding ends.

Children who have experienced trauma, adversity or significant emotional challenges often need longer than funding allows.

๐‡๐ž๐š๐ฅ๐ข๐ง๐  ๐ญ๐š๐ค๐ž๐ฌ ๐ญ๐ข๐ฆ๐ž.โฐ

Time to process experiences.
Time to strengthen relationships.
Time to develop emotional regulation.
Time not just to survive.....๐›๐ฎ๐ญ ๐ญ๐จ ๐ญ๐ก๐ซ๐ข๐ฏ๐ž.โค

Our evaluation didn't just tell us our programs were making a difference.

It reinforced why children need access to play therapyโ€”not just for weeks, but for as long as healing requires.

Because children don't always have the words to tell us how they feel.

So they show us.

๐Ÿ’™ ๐“๐ก๐ซ๐จ๐ฎ๐ ๐ก ๐ฉ๐ฅ๐š๐ฒ.

Children don't heal because we ask them to talk.
They heal because play gives them a safe way to express, process and make sense of experiences that words cannot yet explain.

๐Ÿ‘‰Meet Kerry โ€“ a valued member of the Play and Beyond team who is currently completing her Master of Child Play Therapy at Deakin University.

As part of her clinical placement, Kerry is offering 10 child-centred play therapy sessions at no cost to two children who meet the eligibility criteria.

๐Ÿ’šThese sessions are ideal for children who may benefit from short-term therapeutic support in a safe, nurturing and play-based environment.

As places are limited and sessions need to commence shortly to meet Kerry's university placement requirements, we encourage interested families to get in touch as soon as possible.
