There are some community projects that finish when the funding finishes… and then there are the ones that create something that keeps going. 💗
Our four-week introduction to Tai Chi became one of those.
Thanks to the incredible support of Community Bank Hervey Bay Bendigo Bank, we were able to offer four weeks of Tai Chi completely free to women in our community, guided so beautifully by Margaret Richters from Tai Chi Fraser Coast.
And the response was more than we could have hoped for.
🌿 62 participant attendances across the four weeks
🌿 4 free Tai Chi sessions delivered
🌿 33,047 Facebook views sharing the message with our wider community
🌿 2,751 engagements
🌿 And most importantly… the classes have continued on Tuesdays because women wanted MORE.
That last result means so much to us.
Because this was never really just about learning Tai Chi.
It was about giving women somewhere to belong.
Somewhere to slow down.
Somewhere to breathe.
Somewhere to move their bodies without judgement or pressure.
Somewhere to meet another woman, have a conversation, laugh, learn something new and leave feeling a little lighter than when they arrived.
For many women, this was their **first experience of Tai Chi**. What started as a four-week opportunity has now opened the door to an ongoing wellbeing practice and another way for women in Hervey Bay to stay connected.
When local organisations invest in grassroots community initiatives, this is what can happen.
A grant doesn't simply pay for four classes.
It creates access.
It creates connection.
It creates opportunities that may never have existed otherwise.
And sometimes, it creates something that continues long after the original program ends.
To Community Bank Hervey Bay, thank you for believing in what we are trying to create through Women’s Walk & Talk Hervey Bay. Your support helped make this accessible to women regardless of their circumstances.
To Margaret, thank you for your generosity, patience, warmth and the beautiful way you welcomed every woman into the practice.
And to every woman who walked through those doors thank you for showing up, giving something new a go and reminding us why community matters so much. 💗
This is what Women’s Walk & Talk has always been about:
healthier women, stronger connections and a community where nobody has to do life alone.
From the bottom of our hearts…
THANK YOU, HERVEY BAY. 💗🌿
