🫁 ASTHMA WEEK 2026 | 1–7 SEPTEMBER 🫁

This Asthma Week, we’re encouraging our community to take a moment to think about their breathing and whether their asthma is truly under control.

This year, Asthma Australia is shining a particular light on asthma and women. Around 1 in 5 Australian women live with asthma, and hormonal changes throughout different stages of life — including puberty, pregnancy, perimenopause and menopause — can affect asthma symptoms and control.

Signs your asthma may need a review can include:

🌬️ Increased breathlessness or wheezing
😮‍💨 A persistent or worsening cough
💨 Needing your reliever more frequently
🌙 Asthma symptoms waking you at night
🏃‍♀️ Asthma limiting exercise or everyday activities
🫁 Changes in your usual asthma symptoms

Asthma symptoms can change over time, so even if you have lived with asthma for many years, regular reviews are important.

An asthma review with your GP is also a good opportunity to discuss your medications, inhaler technique, triggers and ensure you have an up-to-date Asthma Action Plan.

If you’ve noticed a change in your breathing or feel your asthma isn’t as well controlled as it could be, speak with your GP.

As a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) with more than 15 years of experience, Dr Linn provides warm, thorough and patient-centred care across a wide range of health concerns.

For general practice, Dr Linn can assist with everyday health concerns, chronic disease management, preventative health, medication reviews, men’s and women’s health, elderly patient care, referrals and ongoing family medicine.
