This is interesting, the areas that are sore are not always the areas we need to work

Your hips aren’t the problem. Your eyes are running the show.

This image shows how the eyes can influence the hips—even though they’re far apart in the body.

Visual info goes straight into brain areas that define “upright.”
When vision is clear and easy, posture stays balanced.

When vision is effortful or asymmetric, the brain switches from fine control to automatic stability.

To stabilize fast, the nervous system routes control away from conscious movement into brainstem centers that set background muscle tone.
That tone travels down the spinal cord and floods the muscles holding you upright.

The hips get a huge share, because they anchor the spine to the legs.

If visual effort is constant, the hips stay in a compensated position.

One side holds more tension. The pelvis tilts or rotates.

This isn’t a hip problem—it’s a stabilization strategy from above.
So when the eyes struggle to stabilize the world, the hips stabilize the body.

That’s why stretching and “hip work” often fail: you’re treating the solution as if it’s the source.

Visual input hits multiple levels at once.

The fastest, most posture‑relevant effects come from subcortical and brainstem circuits that bias your spinal output.

The hips are a major postural hinge—but they’re being driven by the visual system.

If your posture won’t change, start looking at how you see, not just how you stretch.

Save this and share it with someone stuck in “tight hips.”
