Words cannot express our shock and disbelief in what took place at Bondi Beach yesterday afternoon. Filled with sadness and anger, we share our deepest condolences with the Jewish community and extend our support to all those who have been impacted by these tragic acts of terrorism. Hatred and antisemitism holds no place in our country.

Dr Bruce Perry said “Relationships are the agents of change and the most powerful therapy is human love”.

Love, kindness, connection, attunement and compassion offers opportunities for deep healing, and healing is amplified when we stand together in unity. Providing opportunities for your children to talk about and process what’s happened at their own pace is crucially important.

Our hearts are with you, Bondi.
We stand with you 🖤

This week I had the privilege of co-presenting at the Therapeutic Life Story Work Australia (TLSWa) Symposium in Sydney with the incredibly talented and passionate Play Therapist and colleague, Tameka Willis.

Tameka and I wanted to share with the TLSW community, ways in which play deepens the TLSW practitioners connection with children, carer and self. We have proposed that if the power of play is used as a foundational framework to practice from, then connection, engagement and success of the implementation of TLSW will be significantly enhanced.

We also proposed that recognising, acknowledging, and respectfully engaging the cultural heritage of the practitioner, carer and child within the process of TLSW must be a part of how we practice, as the culture we identify with forms the most integral part of our identity.

I feel incredibly blessed to have been able to meet and journey with so many people from across Australia who are practicing TLSW and share the same passion for healing children and young people.

Thank you (TLSWa) Committee and the team at SSI Bankstown for hosting an incredibly inspiring event. Extra special shoutout to .mollison_tlsw for being such incredible hosts both in person and online.

Today is World Su***de Prevention Day, “Changing the Narrative in our Community”.

Let’s be available for our loved ones to have the conversation about how they’re feeling anytime, anywhere, anyway.

Being available and able to listen could be life changing for someone who might be struggling.
