~LIVE MUSIC IN OUR HOSPITAL~
Inscape musicians Crystal and Helena performed in our recent K Block pop-up at the Royal Hobart Hospital. Lots of people came by, and so many smiled at the artists as they walked through the hospital foyer. Some clapped, others gave the thumbs-up sign. The music was a beautiful mix of gentle songs ranging from 60s classics to Amy Winehouse. Helena and Crystal sang some stunning harmonies!

Earlier this year, Inscape Out invited the public to experience the creative work that happens every day inside hospitals and clinics across Southern Tasmania.

Part of the City of Hobart’s InsideOUT program, the installation evolved over two months as artworks, poetry, music and artist activations transformed two simple cubes into a window into Inscape’s arts-in-health practice.

Created by Inscape artists in collaboration with patients, families and healthcare staff, the installation revealed the power of creativity to foster connection, reflection and care.

Thank you to everyone who visited, paused, participated and shared in the experience, and to our Inscape artists who generously brought this project to life.

Inscape Out featured work by Claire Pendrigh, Will Parsell, Rebecca Coote, Bec Stevens, Tanya Maxwell, Helen Swain, Shelley Cussiter, Crystal Livermore, Tiff Norchick, Leigh Tesch and Laura Purcell.

If you believe creativity has a place in healthcare, please consider supporting Inscape Tasmania. Your donation helps keep artists working in hospitals and clinics across Southern Tasmania.

~SHOWCASING ARTWORKS MADE BY HOSPITAL STAFF~
In 2025 Inscape Artist Rebecca Coote worked with staff on 3A to create artworks that would brighten and enliven the ward for staff, patients and families. Staff worked with Rebecca during 3 lunchtime Gel Plate Printing workshops to create a series of colorful prints using acrylic paint, stencils and dried leaves which Rebecca later collaged and framed. These beautiful artworks are now enlivening the hospital space for all to enjoy.

~POP-UP PERFORMANCE WITH CRYSTAL AND ABBEY~

People passing through the K block foyer at the Royal Hobart Hospital pause and listen to the sounds of Abbey’s flute and Crystal’s guitar.

Inscape’s pop-up performances provide a moment of peace and joy in the busy the hospital environment. Nurses, doctors, patients and their loved ones always stop and listen, even if only for a moment. We hope that they’ll go back to their busy days taking a little bit of that magic with them.

For ten years, Inscape Tasmania has brought professional artists and musicians into hospitals and clinics across Southern Tasmania.

Every week, artists work alongside healthcare teams, sharing music, storytelling and visual arts with patients, families and staff. These creative encounters can bring comfort, connection and a sense of identity during challenging times.

In a new article, Inscape Board Member Andrew Koch reflects on the impact of this work and why its future cannot be taken for granted. Many of these programs rely on donations and community support to continue.

Read Andrew's article and, if you're able, help keep art and music in hospitals and clinics across southern Tasmania with a tax-deductible donation this End of
Financial Year.

🌸 ART IN BLOOM 🌺
Before the weather turned chilly, we had a wonderful day of art and music in the Peacock Garden!

The garden was filled with the beautiful sounds of Tiff’s Harp and Will’s guitar. Claire brought some clay and made pinch-pots and plant pressings with participants. And of course, therapy dog Kenji made everyone smile!

This event launched Inscape’s project “Art in Bloom” where Claire will be working with patients in the Peacock Centre to create a collaborative artwork for the garden.

Stay tuned to see what they make!
