This week saw us celebrate the NATIONAL NURSE PRACTITIONER (NP)DAY 12.12.24

I am immensely proud to be an Endorsed NP and a part of innovative impact and changes our role has brought into the Australian healthcare sector.

Over the past 12years as an endorsed NP the journey has had many highs and challenges. Since NPs introduction into Australia is we are now being seen as a pivotal contributors in making quality healthcare more accessible for all Australians.

I have the best job in the world and work with the best people in the world!

My journey as a NP has been centred around healthcare innovation - as a clinician and entrepreneur.
Managing Director of The Bellerive Health Hub - Medical and Allied Health Centre since 2016 - a NP led Patient Focused Medical and Allied Health centre with an incredible managerial team and clinicians.

Fully accredited and a RACGP training site with too many services to mention.
I still own this centre in Bellerive today.

During this time I opened Quay Day Spa - later to be know as Quay Aesthetics, Skin & Medspa (sold after 7years ownership) - specialising in aesthetics / Skin / Complementary Therapies.

From here I began my journey with Laser Clinics Australia as a Telehealth Prescriber and Medical Aesthetics

In the past 6 months I have ventured back to my Primary Health roots. Now working in 2 new roles

1.With the Moreton Group - delivering medical services to the vulnerable and homeless in the Elizabeth st mall on a Monday night

2.As a Nurse Practitioner part time with THS as a part of the incredible service that is Hospital in the Home & community Rapid Response

WHAT IS A NP
A Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a Registered Nurse with the experience, expertise and authority to diagnose and treat people of all ages with a variety of acute or chronic health conditions.

NPs have completed additional university study at Master’s degree level and are the most senior and independent clinical nurses in our health care system.

Nurse Practitioners
* Have practised in Australia for 22+ years
* Provide health care in all states and territories in Australia
* Can provide patient rebates through Medicare
* Provide prescriptions and access to PBS medicines
* Can refer patients to hospitals and specialists
* Can order x-rays and diagnostic tests
