Diabetes can develop gradually, and many people may not realise they have it. Common warning signs include increased thirst, frequent urination, fatigue, blurred vision and slow healing wounds.

This NAIDOC Week, we recognise 50 Years of Deadly - honouring the Elders, organisers, artists and communities who have carried NAIDOC forward, and celebrating the strength, culture and leadership of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today and into the future.

The 2026 artwork, Paralpi by Zaachariaha Fielding, speaks to movement, energy and continuity - carrying the stories of Ancestors forward while celebrating the creativity and cultural power of the next generation.

Today we're wearing red to support Bowel Cancer Australia's Annual Giving Day.

Bowel cancer is one of Australia's most diagnosed cancers, but it's also one of the most treatable when found early. As primary care providers across the country, GPs at Ochre see firsthand how much earlier detection can change outcomes.

If you're 45 or over, talk to your GP about bowel cancer screening. It could be one of the simplest things you do for your health this year.

Today we were proud to welcome Prime Minister Anthony Albanese to the Sunshine Coast to celebrate the launch of the Caloundra Medicare Urgent Care Clinic.

This clinic marks an important national milestone, completing the Australian Government's commitment to establish 50 new Medicare Urgent Care Clinics during the 2025–26 financial year.

From 17 June 2026, local residents and visitors will be able to access fully bulk-billed urgent care for urgent but non-life-threatening illnesses and injuries, with no appointment required – just a Medicare card.

The Caloundra clinic joins a national network that has already cared for more than 1.2 million Australians, helping people receive treatment closer to home while reducing pressure on busy hospital emergency departments.

Located in Little Mountain, the clinic is the first step towards a larger purpose-built Ochre Health Hub and Medicare Urgent Care Clinic planned for Aura, which will provide even greater healthcare services for this rapidly growing region.

💙 So much of a nurse’s work happens quietly and many people never see it but our clinic couldn’t function without them. Primary Health Care Nurses keep care moving every single day. They support patients with things like immunisations, wound care, triage, following up results and helping plan ongoing care. They also manage supplies, give medications, help check heart and lung function, collect pathology, assist during consultations, and provide education and support for chronic conditions and healthy living. At Ochre Medical Centre Hobart we’re fortunate to have a team of seven dedicated nurses and we thank each and every one of them for the care, skill and heart they bring to our clinic. They are vital members of our healthcare team, providing safe, timely and compassionate care at every presentation and helping ensure the whole clinic runs smoothly. Today we celebrate them and we’re grateful for the incredible work they do every day.
