Last weekend the Foot Systems Podiatrist attended the Sports & Exercise Podiatry Australasia Conference in Noosa to update themselves on all things sports podiatry.

We have been promising this for a while now but it’s nearly here!

In the next few months we will finally roll out our lab-grade Biomechanical Gait Assessment using the latest in AI technology.

Model Health will allow us to assess your gait in detail never before possible in the clinic. And yes, it’s perfect for assessing running biomechanics!

Patients beware the too soft runners!

These very soft foams are engineered for running, not for walking. In years gone by we could get away with wearing a runner as a walking shoes as the foams were firmer and the uppers more stable. While these soft foams feel nice, they are neither stable nor durable for walking.

If you are not sure what is the right shoe for you, come in and chat to one of our fabulous podiatrist 🙂

AND remember, just because a shoe model worked well for you last season, doesn’t mean it will be the same shoe this season - even if it has the name!!

It’s been a big few days for the Foot Systems team.

With our research colleagues from ASICS Japan’s Institute of Sports Science, we assessed Full & Half Marathon runners foot shape & mobility before & after the Hobart Marathon Festival.

It was an opportunity for our Podiatry team Madeleine Murray & Hayley Openshaw to be on the other side of a race rather than running the race!

We had great support from the runners who were very willing to limp back to our stand after the race to be reassessed.

Now to analyse the data ….. We will be looking to see if there is any relationship between foot mobility, injury and race time performance.

Running in the Hobart Marathon or Half Marathon?

Foot Systems is excited to be collaborating once again with the ASICS Foot Science Research Team from their Institute of Sports Science in Japan.

This time we are looking at FOOT MOBILITY, footwear choices and marathon performance.

If you are running in the FULL or HALF marathon, then come by our stand at the Hobart Marathon Expo to have your feet scanned with the latest ASICS foot shape app & complete a simple questionnaire to earn a $25 ASICS voucher. OR better yet, come back again after the marathon for a quick rescan of your feet to earn another $25 voucher ($50 in total) to use on the ASICS website!
