I think one of the reasons anxiety feels so confusing is because people often treat it like the entire problem.
When a lot of the time, it’s the first noticeable symptom of something that’s been building underneath for a while.

Stress.
Emotional pressure.
Constant vigilance.
Over-responsibility.
Trying to stay emotionally ahead of things before they happen.

Most people don’t notice the pattern while they’re in it.
They notice it once their nervous system stops quietly carrying it.

And then suddenly it feels like anxiety came out of nowhere.

But usually, it didn’t. 🙃

A lot of q***r, neurodivergent, and polyamorous people carry shame around wanting stability.

Because when you’ve spent years resisting expectation, it can feel strangely vulnerable to still want something steady.

A home.
Consistency.
A life that feels rooted instead of constantly negotiated.

And I think a lot of marginalised people become so good at surviving that safety itself can start to feel unfamiliar.

Especially the kind of safety that asks you to stop bracing all the time. What do you think? Let me know in the comments.

you can’t change my mind on this 🙃

Sometimes people think therapy is only about what gets said in the room.

But I think the space matters too.

The feeling of arriving.
The moment your nervous system realises it doesn’t have to brace quite so hard.
The quiet reminder that you don’t need to have everything figured out before you walk through the door.

Small touches.
Soft lighting.
Tea.
A chair that feels comfortable enough to exhale in.

None of it is the therapy itself.
But I think it helps create a space where people can be human first.

What helps you feel safe or settled in a space? 🤍
