As we come to the end of another Reconciliation Week in Tasmania, we are reminded that reconciliation is more than a word – it is a commitment to truth, reckoning and change.

Here in Lutruwita/Tasmania, we are being asked to think differently about what reconciliation means. It means listening to and learning from the truths of our shared history, acknowledging the ongoing impacts of colonisation, and working together towards a more just and equitable future.

Reconciliation is not a destination; it is a continuous journey that calls on all of us to reflect, learn, and take meaningful action.

Today is International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Interphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT) 🌈

At headspace, we believe everyone deserves to feel safe, supported and celebrated for who they are.

IDAHOBIT is a reminder that words matter, inclusion matters, and showing up for LGBTIQA+ young people matters — not just today, but every day 💛

Whether it’s checking in on a friend, learning more, speaking up, or creating safer spaces, small actions can make a big difference.

Sunday, May 17 is IDAHOBIT - International Day Against HOmophobia, Biphobia, Intersexism, and transphobia.

Why is it important to talk about IDAHOBIT? 🌈

Quite simply, because everyone deserves to feel safe, respected and supported for who they are.

IDAHOBIT helps to raise awareness about the discrimination and barriers our LGBTIQA+ young people still face, whilst encouraging conversations about inclusion, allyship and belonging.

For young people, seeing acceptance and support can make a huge difference to mental health, confidence and feeling connected to their community 💛

IDAHOBIT is a reminder that creating safer, more inclusive spaces starts with conversations, understanding and showing up for each other.
