Muscle Maintenance "Keeping Active People Active""

Back from a big adventure.
Back into it.
Because goal 1 is strength and mobility
Goal 2 is getting out of my comfort zone
Goal 3 is about big benching….

From novice to intermediate novice!
1 year ago I joined Australian Powerlifting Alliance
1 year and I barely know myself.
I am so excited for the future.
Our lives have changed.
I’ve found people that align with my thinking.
I risk failure regularly.
Thank you to everyone who has been like a safety rope in my high wire act 🤣

ACe, loves trains, they are a great way to travel.
Especially when you try to do it on the Sunday of a long weekend.
Standing room only!! Well, we did share exit stairs)
We have tried first, second and cattle class.
There is always someone who thinks they will find a private large available space.
I find it best to hunker down. And be grateful.
Some days are travel days.
The most important thing is keeping perspective and not adding to each others stress
Grateful for the wafer, air conditioning and seat for the last three stops !

This is the essence of Australian sport.
Unity, larrikinism, the having ago, ability to laugh at yourself.

I am happy, so so happy!
My International debut at World Bench Press in Warsaw, Poland done ✅
I secured 4th place in the Masters 2 84kg+ division. Our Master 2 Team ranked 5th out of 17 teams.
I have a few people to thank :-
Firstly for being one step behind whatever crazy ideas come next. For spotting, feeding and listening.
Next coach for giving me all the skills even ones that I didn’t know I needed, bit by bit. I still have heaps to learn but am already eternally grateful
Matt Lancaster, physio extraordinaire for keeping me together
The Australian team displayed remarkable unity and sportsmanship, led by and the cheering was second to none.
It felt surreal to have such support, from people once strangers now friends united in a single goal._kon was an expert at making everyone feel included
My platform coaches and .s.fomin made sure I was ready to do the things!
And head coach for overseeing everything.
Huge thanks to my family who stayed up, I’m sure I heard them cheer from 16, 000 kilometres away, know they were with me added to my why!!
and I, both newcomers to international events, traveling from Tassie, sure had our eyes opened and our interest piqued.
There were so many new friends to meet and incredible stories of resilience to hear.
Witnessing impressive performances has motivated me to redouble my efforts.
Thanks to .intl for capturing this special day.
Look out world, this Glamma is pumped and ready
p.s I’m so glad we explored

The last 12 month have been amazing.
A few days ago, I stepped on the world stage with some very strong individuals World Bench Press
Little did I know when I took the first steps on this unknown journey how far we would travel and what treasures I would find.
I’ve met legends, trained with Powerlifting Royalty, I’ve shed tears of joy, trembled, remained mostly calm with each hurdle and I am proud. Proud to have held my own. Proud to improve and excited to make the next changes required for the next level of Heather !
Lots of people have supported me.
Especially , who believed, encouraged and at times tolerated.
And who has always illuminated the future path long before I know there’s a journey.
Coach handled me perfectly. She told me when, what and why but nothing more than I needed to know at any time! All I had to do was listen and bench.
It was seemless.
So if you messaged, watched, thought, cheered or chanted, know that I am humbled and feel so loved
“ Aussie Aussie Aussie “
“Oi oi oi “
Thanks .intl 📷

Everyone has their story, their reason.
We all have challenges to overcome.
This journey has taught me so much, and has brought many awesome people into my life.
Powerlifting has given me things to work towards, a strong focus on strength and self as well as community.
This event scares me. Which is why it’s important.
For me it’s less about the weights moved and more about improving despite what’s going on in life, trying my best regardless of what everyone else is doing, believing in myself and being vulnerable !

Massive thanks to all who’ve been in my corner, listened to me rabbit on, and heroically resisted the urge to facepalm. To those who’ve shared wisdom, offered calm in the storm, and rolled their eyes good-naturedly, you’re very special to me!
I’m fondly thinking of Dad, would’ve been right there with me, map in hand, cuppa by side, insisting on photos of me in uniform.
He’d be bursting with pride,
His free spirit took a hit when I came along for the ride, but he always encouraged and delighted in it when he saw it in me.

Sunday we train together.
Today we had a bit of catch up to do, but a wee rest meant we could have a solid session today.
Now I feel mentally and physically fabulous and ready for my last week in Hobart for a bit.
Ace and I reflected on our journey.
My life is so good now.
