Just a brief history and update about this page
I started out opening up a shop in Hopetoun, Laura choose the name Hopetoun Emporium so I had no choice. Unfortunately it was about the same time as covid and basically I wasn’t allowed by Dan Andrews to open my shop luckily I had been watching auctions on Facebook and ended up with a lot of new friends who encouraged me to do the same thing, so that’s were Southern Mallee auction started. This helped pay the rent on a shop I couldn’t open and really appreciate two of best friends in the auction scene Coops and Grumps for their help .
Along the way I’ve had help locally from Laura my daughter Rachael and my friend Kay, I moved to a bigger shop which unfortunately had a bad roof and constantly flooded so the decision was made to move out, cost me a fortune in lost stock and shelving but being a small town there wasn’t any more shops left. The auction remains and naturally evolves around the economy as all the other auctioneers know, I know have friends all around Australia including my buyers and other auctioneers and still love picking and saving articles that would just end up in the tip, our history should always be respected.
Now the future, Southern Mallee auction is now part of my blood and always will be, Rachael has learned so much and when I do go I’m praying her and Bailey will keep it going.
The best news is Rachael and Bailey are going to have a child and Laura is over the moon ( personally I still think I’m to young to be a grandfather) so there will be another family member joining our group in the near future.
I would love to thank everyone who has supported us over the years we have been going and want to thank everyone, it’s always fun when I get the next big pick we will definitely be live
