UTI symptoms + fever + back pain? Don’t ignore it.
A urinary tract infection can sometimes spread upwards to the kidneys and cause a kidney infection (pyelonephritis).
Symptoms may include:
• Fever or chills
• Burning or pain when urinating
• Needing to urinate more often
• Pain in the side, back or flank
• Nausea or feeling generally unwell
Kidney infections can become serious if left untreated, so prompt medical assessment is important if UTI symptoms are getting worse or are accompanied by fever or back pain.
If you’re very unwell, vomiting, experiencing severe pain, confusion, or rapidly worsening symptoms, seek urgent medical care.
