Ever noticed your body reacting before youโ€™ve even realised youโ€™re stressed? ๐Ÿ‘€

A clenched jaw. Tight shoulders. A racing heart. An unsettled stomach. Hands gripping without you even noticing.

Stress and strong emotions donโ€™t only affect our thoughts. They can also come with very real physical responses.

Sometimes thatโ€™s your cue to check in with yourself:

๐Ÿ’ญ What am I feeling right now?
๐Ÿ’ญ Have I been under more pressure than usual?
๐Ÿ’ญ What does my body need from me?

Maybe itโ€™s a few slow breaths, some movement, a glass of water, a break, or reaching out to someone you trust.

You donโ€™t need to wait until you feel completely overwhelmed to check in with yourself. ๐Ÿ’œ

What does stress usually feel like in YOUR body? ๐Ÿ‘‡

It was supposed to take 5 minutesโ€ฆ so why are we still here 45 minutes later? ๐Ÿ˜ญ

Sometimes it isnโ€™t the task itself that feels difficult. Itโ€™s everything happening in your head while youโ€™re trying to do it.

One part of you says โ€œJust get it done!โ€
Another says โ€œWaitโ€ฆ what if something goes wrong?โ€
Then comes the frustration, second-guessing, embarrassment and suddenly one tiny task feels HUGE. ๐Ÿซ

Our emotions arenโ€™t necessarily trying to make things harder. They can influence how we approach situations, alert us to things that matter and sometimes make us pause, hesitate or rethink what weโ€™re doing.

The goal isnโ€™t to get rid of emotions. Itโ€™s learning to notice whatโ€™s showing up and understand what it might be telling us. ๐Ÿ’œ

So next time a โ€œ5-minute taskโ€ somehow becomes a 45-minute missionโ€ฆ

Which emotion is running your control room? ๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿ‘‡

Whatโ€™s something YOUโ€™RE proud of? ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿฆ‹

We had such a great time at the Be Understood Mental Health Expo, hosted by Keeleyโ€™s Cause!

Our table was full of conversations, laughs, fidgets, goodies and plenty of spins on the prize wheel, but one of our favourite parts of the day was watching our โ€œWhatโ€™s something youโ€™re proud of?โ€ board slowly fill up. ๐Ÿ’›

From going to school this week and creating an app, to accepting myself and being proud of the people we love, every answer was different, and every one deserved to be celebrated.

A huge thank you to Keeleyโ€™s Cause for bringing together such a welcoming community and creating a space centred around mental health, understanding and connection.

And a special thank you to Cass and her support worker Cara for joining us and helping represent 4 Reasons on the day. We loved having you there! ๐Ÿฆ‹

Until the next one! ๐Ÿ’œ

Now weโ€™ll ask you, whatโ€™s something youโ€™re proud of? ๐Ÿ‘‡

โ€ผ๏ธ Trigger warning โš ๏ธ

Please be mindful that this video discusses domestic violence and the loss of life.

The story of a young woman she knew whose life was taken as a result of domestic violence.

Stories like this are difficult to speak about, but they are important to remember.

Domestic and family violence doesnโ€™t always look the way people expect it to. It can happen behind closed doors, to people we know, in families and communities around us.

For Mel, raising awareness isnโ€™t just about recognising an awareness month or posting a statistic. Itโ€™s about remembering the real people behind those conversations and using our voices in the hope that someone else may recognise the signs, reach out, or know that support is available.

No one should lose their life to domestic violence.

To the lives lost, the survivors, and everyone still finding the courage to speak, we see you, we hear you, and your story matters.

You got the reassurance. So why doesnโ€™t it feel like enough? ๐Ÿ’œ

For some people with OCD, reassurance can bring a moment of relief, but the doubt can quickly return.

โ€œAre you sure?โ€
โ€œBut what ifโ€ฆ?โ€
โ€œCan you promise?โ€

What can look like simply asking the same question again may actually be part of a cycle of anxiety and compulsive reassurance seeking.

OCD doesnโ€™t always look like the stereotypes we often see. It can be internal, repetitive and exhausting and sometimes completely invisible to everyone else.

This OCD Awareness Week, letโ€™s look beyond the stereotypes and make space for the experiences we donโ€™t always see. ๐Ÿฆ‹

You look after everyone else. But whoโ€™s looking after you? ๐Ÿ’œ

This National Carers Week, we want to recognise the people who are so often busy making sure someone else is okay.

The appointments. The check-ins. The difficult days. The plans that change at the last minute. The quiet sacrifices that might never be noticed by anyone else.

Whether you care for a family member, partner, friend or someone close to you, what you do matters.

But this week is also a reminder that you matter beyond the care you provide. Your wellbeing, your rest, your feelings and your need for support matter too.

To every carer who keeps showing up, even on the days that feel heavy:

Thank you. We see you. ๐Ÿฆ‹

Some of the heaviest things people carry canโ€™t be seen. โค๏ธ

Someone can show up, go to work, catch the train, laugh with friends and continue with their day, while carrying far more beneath the surface than anyone realises.

Mental health doesnโ€™t always have a visible sign. Sometimes it looks like someone simply getting through the day while managing anxiety, pressure, self-doubt, loneliness or things they havenโ€™t spoken about.

This Mental Health Month, letโ€™s remember that we never really know what someone else is carrying.

A little patience. A genuine check-in. Listening without judgement. Giving someone space when they need it.

Small things can matter more than we realise. ๐Ÿฆ‹

Be kind. Check in. And make space for the things we canโ€™t always see.

On 23 September, we attended the DEC Werribee Expo, and this one felt a little different.

Cassie came along to help us on the day and represent 4 Reasons. What made that moment even more special is that Cassie was our very first participant.

Seeing someone who has been part of our journey from the beginning now standing alongside us, meeting people and being part of representing 4 Reasons was a pretty special moment for our team.

The expo itself was an amazing experience, filled with conversations, connections and plenty of familiar and new faces, but having Cassie there made this one weโ€™ll remember.

From being there at the beginning to standing beside us today. ๐Ÿ’œ

This is what community looks like to us.

non-violence isnโ€™t just about avoiding physical harm. Itโ€™s about how we communicate, how we respond when weโ€™re frustrated, and how we choose to treat the people around us.

Today, and every day, choose respect, kindness and safer ways to work through conflict. ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿฆ‹

Happy International Day of Non-Violence from 4 Reasons Disability Services.
