Meet Chris

For more than 26 years, Chris has been an important part of the Anowah family, working behind the scenes as our Finance Manager and helping keep everything running smoothly for both clients and staff.

While many people know Chris as the person who looks after payroll, her role extends far beyond that. Chris also manages financials, NDIS claiming, client invoicing and is always willing to lend a hand wherever support is needed. Her work helps ensure Anowah's services continue to operate seamlessly, allowing our clients to focus on living their best lives.

After more than two decades of dedication, Chris continues to be a valued member of the team. We thank her for the care, commitment and passion she brings to Anowah every day.

This week marks International Men's Health Week, a reminder of the importance of looking after both physical and mental wellbeing.

Too often, men are encouraged to push through challenges on their own. Taking time to check in with your health, talk openly, stay connected and seek support when needed is a sign of strength, not weakness.

Let's continue the conversation and support better health outcomes for men in our families, workplaces and communities.

Every day looks a little different, and that’s exactly how it should be.

From friendly competition at ten-pin bowling and Aqua Golf, to getting creative in the kitchen, enjoying music therapy sessions, or spending the day exploring local wildlife parks, there are plenty of opportunities for people to get involved in activities that match their interests and goals.

These experiences are about more than simply filling a calendar. They help build confidence, encourage social connection, develop everyday skills, and create opportunities to try something new in a supportive environment.

Whether it's learning a new recipe, meeting new people, improving coordination through sport and recreation, or simply enjoying a day out in the community, every activity is designed to support independence, wellbeing, and meaningful participation.

No two people are the same, which is why having a variety of activities and experiences available is so important. It allows individuals to explore what they enjoy, challenge themselves, and create memories along the way.

The Hub Harvest continues to grow into something the community genuinely looks forward to.

For just $30, each box is filled with fresh, seasonal fruit and vegetables, making it an easy way for families to access quality produce while keeping things affordable. But what really sets it apart is what sits behind every box. It’s a program that creates opportunities, builds confidence, and supports people with disabilities to develop real skills through meaningful participation.

There’s a strong sense of purpose at The Hub, Horsley Park, where each collection feels connected to something bigger than the transaction itself. Customers aren’t just picking up produce; they’re supporting a cycle of learning, inclusion, and community connection.

Making Everyday Skills Count with John 🛒

Recently, John headed out for a grocery shopping trip, taking an active role in planning, selecting items, and navigating the local supermarket.

This was a valuable opportunity to build practical life skills, confidence, and independence. Through regular community-based activities like this, John is continuing to strengthen his decision-making, money-handling, and communication skills while becoming more comfortable navigating everyday situations.

These experiences also provide opportunities to work towards individual goals in a real-world setting, turning everyday moments into meaningful learning experiences. 💙🧡

Celebrating a successful Hub Open Day at Anowah! 🥳

A heartfelt thank you to all the participants, families, support coordinators, and community members who joined us for our Hub Open Day at Horsley Park.

It was a privilege to showcase our 5½-acre, low-stimulus environment and demonstrate how our commitment to active support helps individuals build capacity and independence at their own pace.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Cherry Tree Cooks for leading our morning cooking program, and to Alex The Music Man for bringing the energy and community spirit to music therapy.

Since 1967, Anowah has been a proud part of the Western and South-West Sydney community. Events like yesterday remind us of the power of connection, dignity, and inclusive spaces.

If you were unable to attend but would like to explore our centre or community-based activity options, please reach out to our team.

June is Pride Month, a time to celebrate diversity, inclusion and the right for every person to be recognised, respected and valued for who they are.

Anowah believes that everyone deserves to feel safe, welcomed and supported to live authentically. Creating a sense of belonging is at the heart of what we do, and that includes supporting and affirming people of all sexualities, genders and identities.

Which is why, we're proud to be part of the ACON Welcome Here Project, a program that helps organisations demonstrate their commitment to providing inclusive and welcoming spaces for LGBTQ+ people. Being a Welcome Here organisation reflects our ongoing commitment to creating environments where people feel accepted, respected and able to be themselves.

This Pride Month, we celebrate the strength, diversity and contributions of LGBTQ+ communities, and we remain committed to fostering a culture of inclusion every day of the year.

Happy Pride Month from all of us at Anowah. 🌈

Today is Tourette Syndrome Awareness Day.

Awareness begins with understanding. Tourette syndrome is often misunderstood, but behind every diagnosis is a person with their own strengths, goals and story.

By learning more and challenging stereotypes, we can help create communities where everyone feels accepted, respected and included.
